I always do... Of course you do right?

Buddy of mine says a well known pro, old guy, like Denny Brauers age is a huge proponent of not pegging the weight...

My buddy can't recall the pros name; spent all day on the boat me throwing out ever old pros name I can think off and no match

Anyone know who this was/is?

Larry Nixon?
I think I read an article where he said he only pegs if he's fishing grass. Not pegging the weight allows the worm to glide in the last foot or so and have better action.

I've read Larry Nixon talking about how much he hates pegging weights. I used to do it a lot, but pretty much refuse to now. I noticed I was missing fish on what felt like good bites. . .then read a few pros talking about how it will mess with your hookups. So no more for me. I still flip docks with a t rig, just not pegged.

I only peg in certain situations but use bobber stops and I do think it does take away from the action of the bait sometimes

Yep, Larry Nixon

I was close about them being the "same" age:

Larry Nixon DOB Sept 03, 1950
Denny Brauer DOB February 03, 1949

Good call! You were close on the age when you said "not Brauer, same age" haha

Interesting he says he does peg in grass but not on anything else.

Is flipping pads "grass"?

That actually makes a lot of sense!

But in uber thick junk.. Your bait will go no where.

Food for thought fo sho!

I use these to peg my plastics

Not even sure what they are called but you can adjust them.

if you really want to fish with a pegged t rig, just throw a jig or a biffle bug with the same plastic you were going to texas rig.

I only peg it in grass and thick cover. Heard Scroggins saying he doesn't peg the weight while fishing florida matted stuff. Lets the bait float up off the bottom where if it were pegged the silt would bury it.

Fishing trees or grass. Something that might seperate the weight from your bait I will peg it.

Thanks,
