How much should a container of 128 ounces of stink bait weigh in pounds?

Eight pounds right?

Or should it vary by density?

Or are they weighed by volume?

I bought a cross section of brands and a few did not match up volume and weight wise.

Are the packages marked as 'fluid ounces'? An 'ounce' can be either a measure of weight OR a measure of volume, so a 128 ounce container of stinkbait may not weight eight pounds.

I knew you were going to answer Zeke, anyway most of them are in ounces and most if not all of them with exception of three that I weighed all were over both in weight and volume. However, 3 did not match up to weight and volume.

128 ounces is a gallon by volume. Weight will vary.

128oz is 8 pounds weight wise, volume is mentioned above, it just depends on the product and their measurement.

I don't know what's more weird. That we are talking about this, or that I understand everything that is being said here.

what does a gallon of honey/molasses weigh vs a gallon of moonshine? since they are using stuff with fibers in it i'm guessing it would be by volume but most manufacturers/owners are prolly catfisherman they understand that most cat guy's are so tight they squeak when they walk so they add a extra scoop

Generally speaking, the only items that weighs the same as it's volume is water and eggs. Most punch baits will have a higher density than water. So their actual weight should be greater than their volume.

While I value your opinion, 128 oz/gallon is not an opinion, it's a measurement. How are you getting 160 oz/gallon? Weight and volume are two separate measurements, you can't compare the two with something like bait and get the exact same weight to volume ratio every time.

I think Stubby was saying his gallon size container weighs 160 oz

Depends on the specific gravity of the product. If the specific gravity "like water" is 1.0 then 1 gallon weighs 8.34 lbs./gallon.

If a stink bait has a greater specific gravity than 1.0 then 1 gallon will weigh more than 8.34 lbs./gallon.

If the stink bait has a lower specific gravity than 1.0 then 1 gallon will weigh less than 8.34 lbs/gallon.

multiply specific gravity of the product X 8.34 to get lbs/gallon.

That should be about as clear as mud rolfmao

I checked yours and you give more by weight and volume. :-) :-)

Stubbys 32 ounce jar held 41 ounces of product and was filled above the 32 ounce volume mark on the jar.

The only ones whose weight was accurate, of thoseI checked, were Stubbys Mr. Whiskers, and CJs.
