I've lost a rod & reel@ Lewisville Tawakoni Texoma Arlington
I just chalk it up to arrogance. Also, I have reeled in a few that others have lost. I call it my trading post. It's too bad the ones I pulled out weren't as good as the ones I left. You lost your combos because you're arrogant? Probably didnt strap them down, thinking, "They will be okay"...Ive done that and ALMOST lost a rig...LOL

I was fishing up in Northern Minnesota and a somehow a bunch of yellow jacket bees decided to cross the lake and my boat was in the way. They started buzzing me and I stared flailing my arms around and threw a new rod and reel in the boat. Finally got smart and started the motor and got the heck of there. I was in deep water so never even tried to recover the rod.

I took a buddy fishing on Texoma and he caught some line. I kept telling him to just let it go and he said no he feels weight on end. He pulled up a fresh Lew's 7.5' telescoping rod with a Daiwai and a half eaten gizzard shad. Better than catching a striper in my book. I said my boat my rod.

Used a 1 oz. weight with a treble like the other guys commented on. My dad dropped his shimano curado with a falcon rod in lake Belton one time. Water depth was 25ft. His bail was even open. I ended up snagging his line, luckily he had tied a good knot around the spool.

If it was her rod, its her problem. If it was your rod, find a new "HER".

My brother lost his rod in about 15 feet of water a few weeks ago in one of the Atchafalaya Basin backwaters while fishing out of his kayak. He went back out a few days later with a weighted treble hook rig and somehow got lucky and found it. It had moved a bit downstream because of the current but it was in the same general area. It was covered in muck but after cleaning it up the rod and reel are good as new.

Need to try the weight and treble thing. Easter weekend I lost my favorite rig in a pond at my family's ranch when a big catfish pulled it over the rail and into the water. Ok rod but the reel was an Ambassadeur 5000 I've had since 1982. While the cat was stealing my rig I was catching the biggest bass to ever come out of the pond. that's what happened to me on my Dads dock ay Lake Arlington
