Got out this morning for my maiden voyage in the inflatable kayak. It was a really calm day today perfect for a float on the pond. Got to the spot at about 8am after pumping up the kayak with air and realizing how out of shape I am I launched and paddled out. Once I figured out how to get comfortable in the kayak without a seat I started fishing. It started out slow but I soon found some bass and started having some fun. Got my first one just a little bass but it was an ice breaker. Finally got a good one this guy took me for a ride as I hadn't anchored up but it was a fun ride. Another pic of the last fish. Got a another little bass. Then lucked into another nice fish. This one wasn't as big as my first big bass but still a good one. Then it small bass the rest of the day I did hook and loose several fish that were good had one launch itself out of the water about 2 feet in the air it kinda scared me at first as it was so close to the kayak and being level with the water gave me a different perspective of the jump. Just another little bass. This was my last one before I called it a day. At least the last one I caught. I had one fish hit my swim fluke jr. like freight train not sure what it was cause I never saw it but it snapped my 12lb. line in less than a few seconds after I set the hook, probably a good thing too as I was sideways when it happened, and for a second I thought it was gonna turn me over... All in all it was a good day and it was nice to get off the bank. I am gonna have to go back though now cause I want a rematch with the fish swimming around with my fluke hooked into its mouth.

Congrats, different perspective sitting on the water and catching fish! How did the fish finder work! The big ones will give you a ride.

The fish finder was useless, I think I had some fish staring at my butt though. Mostly the sunfish as I saw hundreds upon hundreds of them. Its funny how curious the sunfish are, a few times I would turn around and look behind me and I would see several of them just looking at me. For some reason its like they knew when I looked at them as they would stop staring.

For those who don't get the fish finder joke the kayak has a see through floor. Pictures do say a thousand words. I had a really relaxing day out fishing today I'm gonna have do this again.

It's really cool when the fish jump above your eye level. Congrats on a good first time out!

Thanks everyone I mostly bank fish but I got a free inflatable kayak and decided to try it out. I had a great day out and no chigger bites.

Congrats and I wish I could get a kayak and do the same. I am just not in the spot to have one.

Its only secret cause I think I'm the only fool willing to drag all my stuff all the way to the pond from where the extremely limited parking spot is. Its a public water I did my research before going out there. I only say secret as I have never seen anyone fishing there. Probably cause the snakes, high grass, chiggers, limited bank access, and the huge hills you have to climb in and out of the place. The place makes you earn it for sure. Thought I was gonna have a heat stroke dragging all my stuff up the hill on my way out last time

Congrats on the fish! Looks like it was a much better day than the last time we were out lol. Wish I could have joined but that silly thing called work keeps getting in the way. It's a very nice place, but yeah, it's a royal pain in the {you know what} to get in and out of there. I do plan on going there again. I'll be sure to let you know Fisherman13.

Sounds good yeah my crazy work schedule lets me fish in the middle of the week sometimes. The water was like glass most of the morning and I could see the bottom where there was no grass it was nice. I spooked a lot if bass though trying to move spots but I did see a lot a nice fish. I can't wait to take the MAYPOP kayak back out. Let me know Bankbassin when your planning to go back.
