I tried them and wasn't very impressed personally. These new matzuo j bend sickle hooks I am using have absolutely skyrocketed my hook up and landing ratio. They are evil! Bought them on a whim after having a lot of issues hooking up solid on light bite in deeper water with finicky bass lately and these nailed it. I stuck everything in the lake last sunday with these bad boys. Anything curious enough to touch my bait came in the boat.

Their flipping hooks are among the best on the market. I trust them 100%. I also pour some of my flipping, swim, football jigs and shakeyheads with them. I also get blank spinnerbait heads and some of my bladed jigs with them molded in as well. All of those are basically a straight shank so I have confidence in them. I prefer other brands for a lot of stuff but have zero complainst about Trokars and consider them a good option.

I would mind trying those. Does Academy carry those?

Good hooks when academy has them on sale for 3.99$ I like their flipping hooks for light applications while using floro. If ur using 65lb braid with their flipping hooks you will bend them out. The strike king flipping hooks are sweet though u can't bend those and they penetrate very well other wise I stick with gama or owner.

I've never had one bend out, but I've heard others say the same thing. Interesting

Same here. Ive used them on Amistad and hauling 3-4lbers out of thick hydrilla mats. Like lots of people, I only get Trokar when theyre onsale, I stocked up when they were buy one get one free. But for the most part, I stick to my Gamakatsu hooks.

Don't straighten them out just to clarify but I have bent almost every hook out to like a 70-80 degree angle where the pint is no longer parallel to the hook shank.

Fascinating. I'm surprised at all the people who reported losing more fish when using Trokar hooks. My experience has been just the opposite. I didn't keep records or analyzed the data to get an exact percentage, but I know that my hook-up to landing ratio increased significantly once I started using Trokar hooks. Maybe I have a wimpy hookset (don't think so), but I rarely loose a fish now that I use Trokar hooks as compared to previous years using other hooks.

They will chew up plastic baits, but I change out plastics frequently anyway, so that has not been an issue for me.

I also will pay for shipping for anyone's "junk" Trokar hooks!! ;-)

I lost about 80% of my fish using them. And that was on multiple occasions where I switched to others and stopped losing fish.

Not a fan either, tear up my plastics too easily. I stick with owner or gamakatsu.

I use the VMC heavy duty flipping hooks, they are STOUT. I picked them up after trying the trokar everyone recommended highly and not having them hold up well to 5lb fish in thick grass matt... cost me a nice photo with a new PB from a local lake when I early released the fish unintentionally so... never again with bendy trocar hooks haha. The VMC HD flipping hooks are like hooking up a tow chain tot he fish haha, once it's through you just drag them up with whatever grass and

Honestly those, these extra wide gap sickle Matzuo hooks have impressed me more than any others. They have been a game changer for me, and I'll be a customer for life now. I'm big on brand loyalty and stick with it when I find something that really delivers. I had one outlast my strike king painted tungsten weight last week coming through nasty rocks with a texas rigged craw. The hook discolored slightly to a rosey brass from all of the abuse it saw in the rocks and the hook point never dulled... it went through almost an entire bag of baits, several very nice largemouth bass, a crappie, some whites, and a big drum. I'm a believer, and glad I impulse purchased them on sale at academy in 3/0 and 4/0!
