Just bought an 09 Skeeter ZX200 with a Yamaha V MAX series 2, 200HP. Had a 94 Mariner 150 so I know absolutely nothing about maintenance on a newer motor. It has 78 hours on it now. Anyone that has the same motor please help me out with maintenance schedule. Water pump, filters, plugs, etc. I want to make sure I'm doing everything needed and when it's needed.

That is a great boat and motor. I run an 05 ChampioN 188 Elite w/a 200 Yammie EFI VMax on it. No matter what motor when I fished hard and fished tournaments I would have my boat serviced once a year. That included lower unit grease change, new impeller. filters, new plugs if needed, re-packing wheel barings and seals on trailer. A lot of the work I was able to do myself when I was younger. Now that I don't fish tournament and just fish for fun and not as much as I use to I have all that done once every other year. Some people well extend that out longer but I've found regular maintenance extends the life of your boat and motor and helps prevent problems. That Yammie 200 VMax is a strong motor for sure.

I like North TX. Marine in Gainsville. They know exactly what to do both with the motor and trailer.

- 3 or 4 fuel filters all very pricey. One on the motor is very difficult to get to.
- Impeller.
- Plugs
- Lower unit oil
- fluid levels in hydraulics
- Grease fitting
- check pumps. 09's are bad about not picking up water; sometimes you have to back the boat up to purge the pumps.
- Check running lights
- Pull prop. checking for line and lube shaft.
- Check dates on batteries and test if needed. Replace ever 3 years, you want be sorry. Check water level every month in the hot summer.
- Trailer brake check and fluid level
- Grease and clean trailer jack
- Check wheel nut covers for easy off. Carry a Phillips screw driver that fits.
- Get a 4 way lug wrench that fits
- Check trailer lights
- Wheel bearings

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

One thing its an VMAX HPDI, not just a VMAX, (different motors)

The 3 filters are a definite. They can be bout online and changed out pretty easily in about an hour by yourself.

A canister style water separator is a must if it doesn't already have it.
I fish a lot and only do a impeller every other year
I do change the lower unit oil every Fall. (I do this so I know it doesn't have water in it going into winter)

I have a 2005 200hp HPDI and its been a great motor (probably close to 700 hours on it)

There are a couple of "secret" filters yammy doesn't tell you about, but its a rare thing (and you will know immediately if you have the issue)

All of the above and you also have screen baskets under the fuel rails on the back of the engine.

The fuel system on these engines are very temperamental and can ruin your engine very fast.

I just had Service Marine in Emory service my Yamaha 225. They did a great job and did it for the right money. Chuck and Perry are the only guys that work on my boat at Lake Fork.

Trying to figure out how yall knew this guy was near Denton, Emory or Rockwall? He could have been in Lubbock or Oregon.

Thanks for all of the advice. Gonna have all of the filters done this winter. Just did the impeller and new lower unit oil today.
