Don't be scared, just fish the same stuff and style as you would fish, if it was daylight. NO LIGHTS are needed. Just keep moving and don't tie up or anchor. If you can find crappie in the daylight you can find crappie in the darkness.

I don't believe crappie need light to feed at night, so I didn't use any.

I fished for couple hours and left when the graph was showing nothing but bait fish in the water column. Fished in 26 FOW to 32 FOW. Kept 18, the BFOTN was a

Grin.

Man I hope my wife never reads this post because I put some coin in some lights and told her I had to have them for night fishing.

Very nice. I agree that lights are not needed to catch crappie at night. They help though if you need to draw in the bait fish.
I always fish at night the same as I do during the day. Find structure and drop offs and drop a jig! Minnows work great at night as well.

Water Hazards!

Have you ever seen a flock of Coots that were roosting in open water in the darkness of night?

Well, I didn't see them either.

Let's just say that the majority of Coots were unharmed.

Live Life on the Edge and eat more Coot! barf
