I'd pay a lot more than that for two more inches.
But seriously it does make it easier to see what you are looking at.

There is alot more than the 2 inches. That breaks down into more pixels on the viewing screen that equals better definition. Think about it...most of the time half your screen is all you see. That takes away half your pixels available to "paint" fish streaks on the screen. In this case bigger is better. If you got the 320 dollars then it will be worth it if you fish for suspended fish and look for botttom detail. If you just want to know how deep it is then go cheap.

Quality of eyesight really has nothing to do with the size of screen. On a larger screen, objects are gonna show up larger, thus allowing you to see more detail.
For side image especially, bigger is always better.

Well the 320 bucks isn't a make or break deal or I wouldn't be looking at them anyway. I was just thinking for 300 bucks I could upgrade a few other things on my boat. I do agree that its not much more when you figure your spending 1500 bucks or more. Thanks as always for the opinions guys hopefully I will keep having theovertime I have been working the last few weeks then momma won't say as much about spending this much on a depth finder.

Huh? Eyesight is EVERYTHING. You have to be able to see, no matter whats on the screen. But we agree...larger screen should show up much more detail. I bought one only because of dang eyesight.....tired of have to look down through the 'bifocal' part of my glasses or use some really strong 'Mr Magoo' glasses... to see what the HB is telling me. Buy all you can afford. Larger IS better. God Bless Quality of eyesight really has nothing to do with the size of screen. On a larger screen, objects are gonna show up larger, thus allowing you to see more detail.
For side image especially, bigger is always better.

For side image especially, bigger is always better. Of course, bigger is better. But what is it worth? It has everything to do with eyesight. For young guys like myself who can see pretty well on an HDS-5 and are on a budget, it's not even close to being worth the extra money to upgrade to an HDS-7/8/10. For the older guys who can't see as well and can afford to upgrade, nothing smaller than an HDS-8 makes much sense at all. "Worth" is always relative. And in this case, it's somewhat relative to eyesight.
