This sounded plausible but, I don't know if anyone else had heard this or not. If you have been to the lake and launched from the new Twin Points Park, you see they are working on the 'Park' portion of it. There looks to be a portion down by the water, that when/if the water rises will provide water up into the new park. Bottom line: I was told they are intentionally keeping the lake level lower to allow for construction until finished with the park and then and only then, will allow the water level to rise and provide a part of the lake up into the park ?? Anyone else heard this? Fact or Rumor? Made sense but, I haven't seen anything in print or on the news about this.. God Bless

Doubt it There's just not enough water to go around right now Even with the pipeline they don't have enough to pump around

It hasn't rained enough in the past few months to help any lake within a hundred miles of EM.Fact is rain will fix a lot of problems.

This was brought up to me by a fellow fisherman on the lake. True: building a simple 'cofferdam' would contain the lake from entering the now under construction finger to allow the lake up into the not yet built park True: We have had a severe lack of rainfall True: Water is being pumped into EM but, ?? the water level is not rising at all True: EM mainly depends on Lake Bridgeport for water supply and it is awfully low (22' plus) True: Many marinas are hurting financially from low water levels Lastly True: Lake Worth is not getting as much water as it would normally get to keep it at a high 'pool level' The work continues on the park portion of Twin Points and it made some sense. Thought I would ask if anyone else had heard this. God Bless

I work on the water side of things for a city and we buy our water from Fort Worth and the water come from eagle mountain! Water being pumped out and no rain doesn't help lake levels!

City of Fort Worth treats and sells water to its customers plus customer cities. Lots of folks drinking out of the same glass. That's why it's low. If you think it's low now, just wait a few more months.

Man, I sure hope your wrong. Still could happen, although not likely, to get a lot of rainfall and bring the lakes up to full pool level. As for usage, well your right there...not sure how that would be corrected other than more sources of water for DFW and/or more lakes but, hear nothing about any building of more lakes near here. All the facts are not good. Was told to expect the water levels, at least on EM to go to 12' low in the near future! That is NOT good, not good at all. God Bless

Aw man, I sure HOPE NOT! EM is not nearly as deep as Bridgeport but, that is a SHAME that lake is that low and for so long now. I will pray for rain for us all, especially Bridgeport. I know ya'll need it badly. God Bless Could be 22 feet low like we are......

The lake is ALWAYS low. I have seen it lower in the early 80's, but I have only seen it full maybe 4 summers in over 30 years. It is low because of the water right on the lower Trinity. Not to mention, the river is empty coming in up north, so it is a little difficult to fill the lake that way. Only thing coming in right now is the watershed.

http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/reports/fish.htmThis website shows levels and discharge rates for the Trinity River system and several others.
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

In the land of the blind, the one eyes man is king... close all the ramps, I'll be out in the pond prowler or kicking around in a float tube! haha
It is a shame to see them all so low though, even more so some of the smaller more shallow bodies of water I enjoy fishing so much, like those in the LBJ Grasslands, which are all but dried up. Also several out west have disappeared completely as well... we should be very grateful for what we have left of our cherished fisheries for sure.
Update: I say we all go steal water form Waco... I can't believe any lake in Texas looking like this right now!

It would make sense Lee to keep levels low for the construction. They basically just did the same exact thing at Tawakoni for the past year & half to fix some pilings & other stuff on the 2 mile bridge. But we just havent had much rain along with EM selling water.

And here I thought Tawakoni was low because we have been in a drought.....
