I'm gonna throw this out there, Deck Boat, I draft in about 18" have a lot of room and most of the comforts of a pontoon, handles rough water really well, 220 hp inboard will push it 50 mph, so it's fast enough, it holds 52 gallons of fuel, has a easily removable Bimini top for summer time shade, trolling motor mounted easily , easy to anchor, front and rear swim platforms are great to throw a net from, and when the Family wants to go play, I can pull 2 skiers with eight people in the boat! " Just Saying". Mike hope this helps Show off....LOL Now if I could just get it to catch fish like a Tri Toon, it would be Golden!!!!
Catch and release into the grease!

You might be interested in my boat then. Because of accidents the past 2 yrs. I am unable to have the strength to get my boat out anymore. I have a 2000 Hurricane deck boat, 19 ft. Has a 125 mercury engine, canopy you can use when needed, live well, built in tackle box, removable carpet, 15 Bee Ready rod holders, has a change room with a porta potty, stereo with 4 speakers, has a table if needed, depth finder, big arse trolling motor you can bolt onto the front, drift chute, bumpers, life vests, skies. Needs batteries, and a new fuel line. All for 5,000. This is my 1st posting about my boat for sale. Will put for sale advertisement in newspaper soon. But will try selling it here in the fishing forum first.

I agree with the deck boat. I have a 22 foot Hurricane with a 150 Yamaha and it is great for cat fishing and getting around the lake as mentioned earlier.

That's a pretty good deal on the Hurricane CatfishMike posted. I looked for one for awhile before I ended up with my CC and they are tough to come by in that price range, especially with the extras and seemingly good condition.

I'm on my fourth pontoon. Started with a 20' and just this spring worked my way dawn to a 18'. I love them except for two things. They take too much power to get any speed, and they do catch a lot of wind when it gets over 15/20 MPH. My boat has to be a family boat also, and the toon fits this need great.
Personally I think a 19/20' deck boat would be a little better choice as it has the speed and should gather a little bit less wind. Good used ones are hard to find.

Well there ya go Mike, may have to change you screen name to Hurricane 190 LOL It is called a fun deck. It is the 198RE. It is really a good boat and for its age I bet I had it on water about 20 times. Just never had the chance to really take it out like I wanted to. Most of the time I was either working weekends or the weather did not let me take it out. Been sitting for 3 yrs. now due to an accident. Just not able to physically do the things to get it ready. Retiring now anyway and wife and I will be moving to the Rockport area.

Ive had everything but a cc and the pontoon wins hands down. took a 1989 24' party barge. stripped everything off but the rails, custom built a new console out of 1/2" square with a sink made into it, installed 4 fishing seats up front with 20 gal baitwell tank in the middle. custom rod holders, ended up putting the couch's back in the rear. in case of a nap when fishing is slow, built a raise deck over the motor. custom built rod storage, all led lighting. led fishing lights 1000 watt yamaha genarator. for coffee pot and all the electronics little girl brings, it had a evinrude 60hp ran wot 18mph. kelp hearing all the talk about bigger motor is better, installed a brand new 115 yamaha dose a wopping 23mph and burns 3 times the gas. wish i had the 60 back,

I have an old 24' pontoon and it is awesome for drifting. I have had some issues getting it to stay put when trying to anchor though. Has plenty of room to carry a large group of people and still be able to fish.

Its a little redneck, but someday I want to take a tritoon, cut all the railings and couch seats off of it and put a center console on it. You will have the space of a toon with the perks of a cc. cutting the railings off will help a lot with wind resistance. Seems like a great boat to me. Surprised the pontoon makers don't offer one like that.
