Are we really talkin bout how ugly a motor looks...hmmm bc when I'm looking to purchase a motor, how ugly/pretty it is plays a huuuuge role in my decision...seriously

I have had Merc and OMC. Never had much trouble from either. OMC always had better corrosion protection. The new Evinrude doesn't look any worse than the 4 stroke engines which look like they are either pregnant or humping your boat. I had mechanics tell me to avoid the 4 strokes as long as possible. I am glad to see Evinrude advancing the 2 stroke technology.

It will be interesting to see. They are from 30 to 50 pounds heavier than the Merc and SHO and some of the extra torque they make is through the use of lower gearing in the lower unit. Merc and Yamaha both use 1:75 and the new G2 is 1:85.
That still leaves room for the motor being more powerful and the emissions and efficiencies they claim would reflect that. The power steering alone may account for the extra weight.
Interesting.

They are heavier but you have to consider the weight includes power steering and the 2 gal oil tank that is built in. It also said it comes with a digital hand and foot throttle. At first I thought they were ugly but the more I look at it the more I like it. Kinda looks similar to the current Etec but with sharper more defined lines. I do hate the logos and think thy should be horizontal. Would love a 175 version for my 361v if they ever make one.

I could do that one. All black with accent stripes to match the boat.

Evinrude has yet to win back customer confidence since the Ficht fiasco!
Anybody willing to risk 20K plus they got it right with this thing?
5 year warranty is appealing and hopefully encourages Mercury and Yamaha to step up their warranties.

Correct, if you can't warrant your product for 5 years now, you as a manufacturer have zero confidence in your technology.
