2015 Evinrude Etec

I know this is Merc and Yammy territory, but I like what BRP has brought to the plate.
I have ran an Evinrude from 1996 to 2001 and 2005 to present and love them. Merc. in-between also without issues.

I know this is a Ford, Chevy, Dodge issue, but thought you guys may like to have a little more info on your options, before you pull the trigger on a $20,000 investment. I think I see one in my future.

The following is from BRP site and Bass Boat Central

"Totally new, ground-breaking, visually exciting direct-injection two-stroke engine from skeg to head

75 per cent fewer total regulated emissions, 15 per cent better fuel efficiency and 20 per cent more torque than four-stroke
competition

Impressive mid-range acceleration where four-stroke outboards can be doughy

Clean rigging means boaters get 60cm more aft deck and splash well to play with

New mid-section with less movement at engine mounts.

Integrated power steering and three adjustable feedback levels at helm

Integrated oil bottle adds to ease of fit-up and overall integration

Automatic trim system to remove the 'black art' for newbies

Hundreds of colour-and-graphic combos and customisable look for partner boatbuilders

5+5+5 warranty, corrosion warranty and five year/500 hour first dealer service

Complete different lower unit, different prop shaft, different drive shaft all bigger to handle the 600 pds torque.

All new prop to handle the torque of this wild engine, it has adjustable vent holes that you adjust with a screw driver, no rubber plugs. All new four blade prop also. Will have a five year warrant, no service for five years. Also gets 15% better gas mileage and lowest emissions of any engine in the world."

Why does Evinrude continue to compare 2 strokes to others 4 strokes? Why not compare to the 2 strokes Merc and Yamaha offer?

The above comparison is to a Pro XS 250 and I believe Yammie no longer offers a 2 stroke 250 that I'm aware of, only a 150 and 175.

if anything, I'm glad they are challenging the market, Merc will have to keep moving forward too.

Sounds like another "game changer".

Sorry, I was going by the text and not the legend in the graph.

Yamaha does not offer 2 strokes anymore at least in the bigger HP ranges and the torque graph is compared to merc 2 stroke

I believe I like it and may re-power my 8 year old ETEC. The more people call it ugly, the more I like it.
