 Best hook for Spotted & Long Nose gar up to 4'.

What is the best way, rig, hook,etc.? I see them all the time in one of our tanks coming to top and gulping.... I want to catch one ASAP!! Thanks

Use a small # 1 or # 2 hook w/out a weight , small baits , like a small piece of cut perch , put it right in front of them and let them run , they will take the bait sink to the bottom and when they run off again you can set the hook ,

I use to use number 6 hook with a bb split shot weight and a cork about 3 to 6 inches from the hook and then put a minnow on its that's what I use to catch them at the creeks
