In addition to Mark I would like to think Larry Barnes would stand a chance to get in also. its sad if they do not change the rule. Makes no sense.

I'm still scratching my head on why a rule would be made to keep all guides out. Had seen the post since it was put up but never read it until today. Lots of light shined on the subject now that I have. Get Mr. Stevenson in and maybe even more guides will be sharing their knowledge on the forums. cheers

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I think he has gone above and beyond his "line of work." Most people in the fishing industry have spent time working with kids, soldiers and charities. I think pretty much anyone, with a very few exceptions, would bypass that rules.

I

So basically a pissing match of politics is why he isn't in the HOF?

Honestly sounds like a "good ole boy club" and if that is the case, there would be little honor in being a part of a "club" like that, I M O ....

I don't think it's quite that bad.

Interesting suggestion for your pole to nominate Mark Stevenson. WHO IS MARK STEVENSON? I have heard of Ethel, i have even seen her replica mount in the entrance way to BPS. BUT, if I hadn't read the Tyler News Article that was linked to the thread, I wouldn't have known who Mark Stevenson is. You might want to start the thread correctly so others like myself might respond favorably. It took me awhile to even open the post because it didn't looked like an impartial request. When people's names are used publicly, more thought needs to be applied to explaining the topic. My take.

Did any of you guys get this?

The Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame committee met this morning to consider nominations to the Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame.

It was the committees decision to induct one organization and one individual from this years nominees: Guadalupe River Trout Unlimited and Mark Stevenson.

A formal letter to each of the nominees will follow shortly, and a press release will be issued next week. I will soon be in contact with the two inductees regarding production of videos about each of them to be shown at the banquet in June.

I know each of you is very interested in the outcome, so I wanted to let the nominators and nominees know in advance of the formal notification and issuance of a press release.

Individuals that were not selected for induction are welcome to submit an updated nomination next year.

Thank you all for your hard work.

I had the honor and priviledge of meeting Mark the same week that he caught Ethel. I have talked to him many times since and he is as humble today as he was then. He deserves being in the HOF as much as anyone already in or ever considered. CONGRATULATIONS Mark and it's about time.

Wow, word spreads quickly! It has been a busy week, and Mark asked me today if I had thanked everyone for their support. If you haven't noticed, I am his personal IT person, lol. I have however gotten him to answer his own posts on facebook and even posts pictures now. He got on Facebook yesterday and was amazed at the support and congrats that he has received. Someday I hope to get him on here... baby steps! You all have been so great and so willing to help that it truly amazed me also. Thank you from our hearts!! A special thanks to Steve Knight and Ray Sasser as well, as they were the ones that wrote articles which helped get the wheels rolling. It is a shame that Ethel will not be included, but she was nominated. We were told there were no fish categories, and obviously no exceptions. I have a feeling she will get her due.

Again, my thanks to all! Bass Wishes and tight lines,
Barbara
