How is he not already in the HOF?
GO -------> "Spit in his mouth, Son. It will make him grow bigger faster" My late grandfather Bill Chapman (and former lake patrolman at Lake Tyler, TX) I have spent the past 50 years spitting in their mouths...increasing the size of Texas fish with every spit! Steve Knight from the Tyler newspaper wrote an interesting article about it which also tells why he is not eligible but perhaps an exception to the rule should be made: http://www.tylerpaper.com/TP-Outdoor/200...me#.U5R7SXJdUuc

Thank you for the support all! Wait to you see the forms... impossible for most people to have the information needed to fill out the form, unless it has changed, which I seriously doubt. Steve gave a reason for why he might not be qualified, but unless he actually saw the nomination form that was sent in, he did not know that Mark is qualified by their rules. Even more so than some of the people that are already in the HOF. Not to take anything away from the people that are in there, but there is more to it.... much more, called politics. If you want to help get Mark into the HOF, I suggest sending an email to Larry Hodge at larry.hodge@tpwd.state.tx.us which gives the nominations to the committee or board.
It is pretty much impossible for most people to send in a nomination as it requires references and lots of documentation, dates, and specifics.

The rule is outdated and needs to be changed or omitted. Get him in!

I am considering making available the nomination form that Frank Johnson sent in to nominate Mark last year, in hopes that people will copy it and send it in. Good idea or bad?

How could I ever fill out that form. It wants info I can probably never get. Mark and Ethel are the main two reasons I started fishing Fork back in the early '80s. I passed over the highway 19 river bridge on my way north and saw that end of the lake. Back then it was full of green trees and the water was very clear. I said this is a place I want to fish. Later I read about Mark and Ethel and it wasn't long before I was on the lake. It was awesome back then. It is still a great lake but does not compare to back then.

I think he has gone above and beyond his "line of work." Most people in the fishing industry have spent time working with kids, soldiers and charities. I think pretty much anyone, with a very few exceptions, would bypass that rules.

Honestly sounds like a "good ole boy club" and if that is the case, there would be little honor in being a part of a "club" like that, I M O ....

If Mark Stevenson is not eligible for the Texas Fishing HOF, ....then....**** on the Texas Fishing HOF. In my mind, Mark is still the State Record Holder.
