Very rarely have I been on guided trips and they have been striper trips with JD up on Texoma when my dad and I would go when I was younger. I have a few friend sand we have all been busy with life and not spent enough time riding our motorcycles or fishing together, so 2 birds 1 stone, I decided we should plan a ride&guide trip and have an awesome ride out somewhere Saturday afternoon then guided trip on a sunday. Not sure how soon it will be, but I was hoping I could get some help and suggestions from people on here. Criteria is guided trip for 3 guys, I would probably prefer targeting largemouth but that isn't 100% required, could be other species... but trophy largemouth would be most exciting to me personally. With that in mind I had been considering Fork and O.H. Ivie. What other nearby Lakes/guide services can you guys recommend? Scenic views or neat places near by the lake will add greatly to the experience. This trip will either be the last weekend of this month or end of july/beginning of august probably.

If any guides want to chime in feel free to pitch me, I don't know what to expect fully as far as techniques and equipment, and amenities fishing 3 people. I've only ever been on guided striper trips on Texoma as far as guided trips go.
Also, remember it's about the ride and fun as much as the fishing so if anyone has good insight to other scenic lakes let me know. I'd love to get out on Lako O' The Pines, it's a childhood favorite of mine, but I don't think we want to travel that far since it'll pretty much just be a day trip. I've only ever been on Fork a few times when I was younger and didn't have much luck, but those were more stressful "family fun" trips than hardcore fishing haha. I've never fished O. H. Ivie but that fishery looks beautiful and seems like I could find an endless array of fun ways to ride to get there and back, but I don't know anything about it other than it just came up a TON after being very very low, and is still a bit low

I think fisherman need to have realistic expectations with bass trips. I have done about 20 Striper trips at Texoma and can't remember a single bad trip where we didn't catch some fish. Sometimes you limit in 30 minutes, sometimes it takes 6 hours. Bass trips, even on Fork there is more risk reward. You only hear about the good trips on TFF and Facebook from guides. Reasonable expectations figure 25% of time might have a hard time even getting a bite grinding out a couple, 50% of the time you will get a few bites and maybe see a nice 4-6 pound slot, and then 25% of the time you might find your picture on Facebook and TFF for getting 20+ fish and a 6-8+ pounder. It is still worth it to experience Fork, but many first timers have unrealistic expectations mainly because guides are running a business and you don't advertise your worst days. Another strategy is to just watch how guides and the lake are doing, then book last minute. There are some times of the year were ALL the guides are on fish and other times like now that only a few guides are on good schools. Booking ahead you don't know how the lake or guide will be doing.

This....and Largemouth (especially Floridas are the most temperamental B__ch's around!)

My expectations with a guide are bout the same as if I was out on my own here... only difference is I can show up empty handed and blind, they provide me the tackle and show me where to fish, instead of my home lakes where I may know where and when and what to fish. That said, going out and getting skunked would be pretty weak, and when you go on a guided trip at a big bass lake of course you want to be put on big bass. No such thing as a bad day fishing though, especially not with friends and other people who are passionate about fishing. Not looking for a sure thing at all, just looking for a great service at a trophy bass lake with some nice scenery along the way possibly. I'm not going to go all "Ike" on someone if I don't land a DD haha What kind of fishing techniques/equipment do most of you guides use? How does a 3 man trip work?

Typically with 3 fisherman (customers) guides charge an extra $100-200 for a full day.
Carolina rigs, shakey heads, football heads & crank baits are hot right now
We have spinning rods & bait casting
I personally guide with Falcon Cara T7 rods and Lew Tournamet Pro reels

Thanks, that's the sort of info specific to this idea I was looking for. I'm comfortable fishing any which way but not sure about the other two.
Is it just a single boat with 4 guys on it? Sounds a bit intimate haha. What's the seating arrangement like? Like I mentioned, I've only done guided striper fishing, otherwise my boat fishing has been solo or 2 guys on a bass boat, and in my mind, I have a hard time imagining bass fishing with a guide like we striper fished with guides. I'd assume you have a healthy mix of experienced bass fishermen and also novice anglers and families you have to teach a lot to? Just an entirely new concept to me, trying to get my head around it all some more right now.
