I post in the Hybrid / sandbass section but this applies to all of us on Hubbard. Last Monday I was night fishing on the south side and hit a stump in the middle of the lake going 35mph. Broke my tailbone and screwed up my lower back. Boats got a few holes in it and lower unit is shot. I called the city to talk about how we can permanently mark these Hazzards. The one I hit was probably a floater because I was driving the same tracks I used a dozen times in the last week. The city is going to work with me and go out and put real buoys on them. I need the GPS coordinates of stumps that you guys have on the south side. Please post here or PM them to me. Take a few minutes out of your day. It could save someone's life. Thanks for your assistance! Be safe out there.

Sorry to hear of your injuries. That sounds painful. Thanks for your effort in doing this. I fish the lake all the time and it has become a scary place even if you know the lake.

I night fish a lot and I have a fear of hitting a buoy almost as bad as hitting a stump. I've hit both and both caused substantial damage to my boat. I wish they would put a flashing light on the bouys, I know that aint going to happen but it wouldn't hurt to ask. If they don't have a blinking light, people stand a chance of hitting a bouy and a stump at the same time. It may be kind of hard to mark some of the stumps because they're floaters that get hung up on the levee for a while and then break free and drift somewhere else. Glad you weren't hurt anymore than you were Roy.

The city doesn't have the money to mark everything. I could see the lake even with clouds and a half moon. A buoy is better than nothing at all. I wondering how many pleasure boaters are going to get hurt this summer.

Broke my tailbone and screwed up my lower back. Boats got a few holes in it and lower unit is shot. OUCH - that is a tough night, sorry to hear that and hope you and your boat can get repaired like new. There are a few unpleasant surprises out in the middle in open water on the south end, I am surprised we haven't heard more stories like this. I hope you are successful in influencing the city to put up some markers.

I'm going out with a friend this afternoon to find a few more out in the open water. If you can provide general or accurate locations I will try to get them marked. The city has been great and easy to work with. They are going to get them marked for us. My hats off to these guys. I will post the results and send a nice letter to the city when it's done.

You can add a stump field not a single stump approx. 300-500 yards due north of that stump outside the buoys on the north side of the 30 bridge (Rockwall side). They are right where most people run east to west or vice - versa.
If you have a GPS map card, simply follow the old river channel north of the bridge and you'll find the stump field. The stumps are all on the old levees.
Not sure how many are there, but at lest 7-10. And they are anywhere from just at the surface to 18 inches under the surface _________________________

I got that on the list already. I know 3 boaters that have lost their lower units on that mine field already this year. Someone marked it twice then someone else cut them off. I don't get people sometimes. If you need a buoy that bad pay $15.00 and buy one.

i had (sold it last month) a wakeboard boat on RH. When you don't have tilt/trim and the lake is down 7-8 feet (approx) it's just going to happen. I am just glad i sold it and went back to bass fishing on fork with my bass boat. 2 boats is 1 too many.

There are several big stumps down towards the dam if your running to the buoys on the left side. Big stumps that were visible 3 weeks ago. Also big one running straight into broken bridge

If you can provide general or accurate locations I will try to get them marked. Roy I don't have them marked on my GPS, and it has been a few years since i seen them, but if i recall correctly i saw about 3 somewhere in this general area, i was running from the east corner of the dam up to the red barn the time i saw them ....
