Nice fish Adam. Fork has been tough the past few weeks so anytime you catch one like that it's good. Fork is a magical place and I cut my teeth on that lake in the late 80's and 90's. I can remember the old days like they were yesterday and those memories are great. Get back out there because the lake can and will reward you like no other.

Reminds me of my first experiences with Lake Fork in the early 90's. It took me about 2 to 3 trips to sort it out and start getting bit. I moved here from north Louisiana and had heard tons of stories about how big the fish were and how many that had been caught. I remember my very first trip, I unloaded @ the 154 bridge and pulled up on the old 154 road bed throwing a Mann's 20 plus in shad. I remember the first cast I had closed my eyes and was holding my breath because I just new I was going to catch a 10 pounder on the very first cast. Long story short I threw that crankbait and everything else I had used to catch big bass at home until my arms were almost cramping and never got a bite. I went home extremely disappointed, second trip same results, I finally caught my first Fork LMB on a C-rigged 4" Gatortail worm off of a submerged bridge in the Coffee creek area. It was a 5 to 6 pounder that fought exceptionally hard. Thought I had hooked a new state record until I got it to the surface. I was shocked by how small it was and the power it exerted.......I've since caught a lot bigger fish out of Fork but none of them fought as hard as that fish.

Great catch and glad that you didn't give up on Lake Fork. Honestly, sometimes Lake Fork can be feast or famine, but if you hang in there it can be rewarding. You can talk to a lot of great anglers and they will tell you that Lake Fork can be one of the hardest lakes to pattern. Go out and have fun and good things will happen. Best of luck on your next fishing trip.

I too feel lucky to have fished the lake since it opened. So many great memories when you used to just launch at the end of a dirt road. One of my first trips to Fork was fishing with Mark Stevenson for spawning fish. Not in shallow water on the banks. We were fishing in 20 to 30 foot deep trees so thick you could barely move. Fish were spawning in the Forks of tree's. Great trip and a type of fishing that is really only a memory these days because it is very rarely duplicated on any lake. They years of night fishing this time of year when the lake was full of hydrilla has put a permanent sore spot on my ribs from the rod butt braced against my side fighting those tough fish.
