I realize most here on these forums fish conventionally. But I wanted to throw out the idea of kayak fly fishing tournaments. I fish both conventional and fly but prefer fly most of the time. I get this probably will not garner much interest but throwing it out there. I realize there are not a ton of fly fishers here.

I love catching bluegills on a dry fly but never thought about a tournament.

i mostly fish with conventional gear, but occasionally fly from the yak. I'd be interested in participating if you get enough interest.

I just got my kayak. Have fished 3 times out of it. I've done a little bit a fly fishing, but never out of a yak. I probably would be lucky to catch anything with a fly rod, but I might be game.

The Lydia Ann Flymasters in Aransas Pass is a fly only tournament. They have a powerboat division and a kayak division. It was reset this year fromJuly 19th to September 20th, due to a scheduling conflict; as soon as all of the details are worked out their website will be back up. The participants all love it. Check it out......

I have always wanted to try fly fishing, but i can't find a decent setup that won't cost me a small fortune.

Never regret, because what you did yesterday makes you who you are today.

Getting a significant group of fly-kayak/canoe anglers together in one place on the same weekend is your biggest challenge in TX. It could be done with a turnout of up to 100 boats (maybe), but it would take a lot of lead time and careful prep, plus cooperation from a few key players.

I'd be willing to help IF it's a charity event that raises money for AFFI, Inc. We need to fund a couple of accessible angling programs here in ETX.
