I just checked the usgs waterdata site and it says Fork is within .01 ft of its level a week ago. I don't know for sure how much rain the area around Fork got the last few days, but most of East Texas has received between 2 and 4 inches. It just seems really odd to me that regardless of how much rain we get Fork never seems to rise. I'm not sure its level has touched 400 feet, and if it did it was only briefly.

It seems unlikely that the controlling authority would release water from the lake heading into the typically dry summer months, but who knows?

Takes a lot of rain to create enough runoff to raise most lakes in our areas. When there is flooding in an area, then the creeks are gushing water in.

I have an employee that lives in Emory and he shook 5 inches out of his rain guage last week. I am like you, the lake should have shown some improvement unless they have the gates open or it is at a level where the east end by hwy 19 is filling up and the lake is getting bigger and the depth is not changing much. idk. That is a big area west that has been dry for a while.

Gates must be open cause it has dropped some today. WTH are they thinking? Lake needs 3 more feet to be full.

Seems like every time it rains lately the lake goes down.

Sounds like Texoma. We had 7 inches at the house and the lake has only rose a foot. Seems like the more rain we get, the longer the gates stay open. They're generating 24/7

I don't know about chunk & winds employee but i live on Garrett on the north end and I got 1.3" as did my neighbor.

It looked to me like it came up a little. Today so far I have gotten .3" Sure is helping the garden and my watering bill.

I can not figure out the State and the way they regulate water. I know we have been in a long drought but every time it rains they start letting water out. We have the same problem on Mathis and Choke. A few months ago Mathis filled up. Now it is 4' low because the State says we have to let out what comes down because we can't interfere with the natural flow of the river to the bays. Many times it has rained 3-4 times as much below the dam as it has above the dam and we still have to feed the shrimp and let out more water. It is ridiculous. I thought the whole idea of a dam was to interfere with the flow of water.

The dam is to create a pool so the flow can be sustained, not have an ebb and tide to it. And most impoundments I know of have to maintain historic flow levels regardless.

Everyone has a quote to meet. Just means less water for the fish to hide in... and maybe less pleasure boats stirring up the stumpy bits... who's complaining?

They must be counting on the weeds on the internet and moving the stake I have at the edge of the water.

They do this here @ Cooper they have the gate cracked open enough to mimic normal river flow.........
