Just moved to Fort Worth from Houston, all previous fishing experience has been saltwater. As of now I'm fishing in the above boat I bought on Craigslist a few years back for duck hunting. I need to get back in the outdoors so I'm trying out bass fishing (LMB, striper, Sandies, no preference). I just want to catch some fish.

My boat has a trolling motor, no outboard and sits 8in above the water so I'm limited in the areas if can fish and weather conditions, etc. no fishfinder either. Anyways, I was looking for advice on what rivers or lakes are ideal for my setup and will produce fish.

I'd prefer stay on the FW side of the metroplex. I've heard benbrook is awful. Lake Arlington is good by the dam but I'm not sure I can access that (too choppy). As of now, I plan on trying out joe pool on the NE side (heard there is good fishing in the hydrilla) and plan on launching from cedar hill. However, I'm open to anything and hoping some of the experienced fishermen on here can give a novice some advice. Thanks

marine creek is close and can hold some large fish but is tough to fish in general, but if you learn it can produce. It's a TPWD OWR lake (operation world record) so it is stocked with SAL offspring (Share A Lunker)

It's a very comfortable sized lake for a kayak/canoe/pond boat and offers a good variety of structure/cover You could do very well launching and just covering the riprap along the dam next to ramp each outing and never venture too far even. Drops off quick and fish usually hold there

Welcome and tight lines!

Lake Clark in Ennis, don't know how much of a drive that is for you but I bass fish it alot. Nice little lake. You can PM me for more info on it if interested.

Never been to it but I know that Wheeler Branch lake near Glen Rose is a good small lake.

Welcome to the forum!

I have been deployed all year but last year right outside Lakeview Marina on Eagle Mountain was on fire. You can throw square bill crank baits and catch bass early morning and before dark. Good luck and get out there.

Another great place to fish is the Ft. Worth Nature Center. Great place for small boats. Caught lots of nice fish in my lil bass buster style boat. It can get kind of busy on the weekends, but during the week its great. Be fore warned, there are gators out there, but they want nothing to do with ya.

Oh yeah, there's Indian Creek (I think) on the n east side of Eagle Mtn. Been up there a couple times and its very fishable. Let me know if you happen to reel in a nice pair of Oakleys up in there.

And welcome to the forum.

It's a unique design. The guy I bought it from custom built it at his fiberglass shop. Its a boat but can go in less than a foot of water so can be fished similar to a yak.

Thanks for all the responses!
