I want to see pics of your trailers and your suggestions. I am thinking about getting one or having one made and would like to see what other kayakers use and what you guys think. So post up and make suggestions. It will be appreciated.

Fully adjustable bunks up/down and side to side to accommodate any boat. 14" wheels so no issues running 70mph down the road to Falcon. Small storage box for straps and tools and spare tire holder. Coated in bedliner to protect it for lifetime. Best of all it's designed where I can rig the boat and then back in and launch in the winter and not get my feet wet!!!

I'm thinking about adding a lockable rod box up above it that can be used during transport and locked at night.

There's a long-running and continuous kayak trailer thread in the Kayak Rigging section at www.texaskayakfisherman.com.

I like seeing those trailers with the kayaks loaded on the ground floor of the trailer. I'm looking to set up a similar trailer with the primary purpose of ease of loading and unloading.

Im not too far away and i have all the necessary tools to make you a trailer or modify an old one. May or may not be cheaper than a fab shop. When you have kind of a general idea of what you would like let me know. I am a certifeid welder and a full time metal fabricator with welders, bandsaws etc in my garage.

Did you build this trailer from the ground up? Kind of looks like a jetski trailer.
The way you set it up, it looks like a factory made kayak trailer! Good job!

It was an 18ft boat trailer that I rebuilt. Cut out braces.....added new ones, replaced suspension and moved it forward after I shortened the trailer 3.5ft. Re-did the axle with new spindles and custom fabbed the fender steps.

Right after the fabrication was done

On the maiden voyage.

The interior of the box is 6' X 10', load gate that lowers which is same height as middle cross beams. Full treated wood deck base. 70" inside goal posts on top and middle. 15" tires for highway running to the coast and full size spare with front rack. Fits in the garage. Complete custom fab by my brother, my Dad and me. Need to paint it but other than that, she does well. I've now added pads on the cross bars (thanks Mariner Sails) and am upgrading the lights.

That looks very similar to my trailer which is 5' x 10' and I'm leaning toward mounting a removable rack that will hold two kayaks and can be bolted to the trailer rails using four bolts, and removed easily as one unit. Thus being able to still use the trailer for utility use.
Where you have the spare would make a nice area to mount a steel storage box as pictured in the posts above.

Here are some pics of our kayak/camping trailer. 1st pic is what I started with. Other pics are what we ended up with. Makes it nice to haul the kayaks and camping gear. Kayak gear in one side. Camping gear in the other side and back. Really makes it nice not having to load and unload every time we head out. Added a few more mods since these pics were taken.

One a co-worker gave me. Not sure if I'm gonna fix it up or scrap it
