You can also have them custom made with your favorite fishing logos on them or to match your jersey.

Modified mine. Cut a slit under my nose and a hole for my mouth. Couldn't stand breathing thru it.

Haven't worn one yet, can't get past the "bandito" look either, lol. I just apply sunscreen really good first thing in the morning. I like the idea of them protecting you from the sun and all but the look just cracks me up when I see someone with them on.

I started wearing them this year and I like them. It hate the sunscreen but my neck was getting fried in the summer. It also helps while running to keep down the wind burns. Ron over at Reel Time Rods new shop has some in stock. His shop is located at Popes Landing.

I hate sunscreen on my face and never was good enough at reapplying it so now I use fabric exclusively.
It seems many are too concerned about what others may think they look like (banditos) and not living powerfully and creating their own life. I could care less what others think I look like. The FACT is that I'm protected from the sun and don't have sunscreen running into my eyes. Everything else is just someone's perception and not actually reality. I laugh at any strange looks. Most of the time they're just ignorant. Some will ask about the buff and once they know, they want one.
The biggest drawback is if they're not positioned just right over the nose your glasses will tend to fog. For me, a little adjustment fixes this. There are newer models with vent holes to prevent this, but I haven't tried them yet.
I have one that is Columbia Omni-Freeze, and that really seemed to work well last Summer. It was noticeably cooler.
I'll get some sun for about an hour each day (it's good for you), but after that, the only skin I have exposed are my fingertips. I'm a huge fan of the fabric sunblock, and certainly the buff.
This all gives new meaning to fishing in the buff doesn't it...

Go to the Lowes site and look up Mission EnduraCool products. I use the towel around my neck but I'll be getting the buff. It really does keep cooler when wet.

I wear mine so much that I have a buff tan line. I also wear the buff gloves so much that the ends of my fingers are tan. I feel like they work better than sunscreen on the places that they cover.

Love all of mine, usually bring 2 with me when I fish during the summer, one in the cooler and one I wear, I switch them out when running to different spots, works wonders in keeping me cool and protected from the sun.

Personally I think they are a great idea and I applaud the guys that take the time to wear them. I have one and honestly forget its in the glove box so i need to give it a try more often.
