It might be prudent to rent a sot so you can do more worrying about fishing related things. Wouldn't take much to make a trip like that a disaster anyway, so why not stack everything you can control in your favor?

@ mjmfc That is a viable option, and will be a 'back up plan' but part of the challenge for me will be to do it in 'my own kayak'
