Rollover is good for fishing but also can be dangerous as well. During the Flounder run it is a very good spot but it gets crowded. I like to fish Rollover during the week...less people. I have caught a lot of fish there too. My 2nd personal best Speckle Trout came from Rollover last July..a 8#er. I have caught various fish from Flounder, to Reds, to Speckle Trout, to Drum. I mainly fish with artificials but sometimes I fish with live bait. I learned to fish Rollover from the local fisherman there. Tide movement is the key to fishing Rollover.

At ROLLOVER PASS if you know to"read" the tide you can catch a lot of nice fish.I am fishing just there for 10 years and a was catching, fishing from the bank just with artificial,a lot of nice specks, flounder ,red fish ,black drum ,Spanish mackerel. You can fish day and night ,but at night is better to have one generator and 1000 watt halogen stage light.
In the last week the problem was ,not the fish ,the sea weeds.Last time i was fishing there in 22 May 2014 catching on jig one 26 inch,6 lb.:

Nice fish! Is there any other good places to fish around Galveston? Maybe somewhere that would be more productive now?

You mentioned in your post that it can be dangerous. In what way?

I would assume he means the current and undertow. The passes between the Gulf and Galveston bays can be deadly for waders/swimmers.

gotcha thanks! I have never fished that area either but I have heard lots about it too. Is that a good place to fish out of an 18 ft center console. Or is that more of a shallow area just for waders and shallow running skiffs?
