This dude was on hanging on our neighbors fence with another snake behind it on the other side. Its a dead snake now, but was curious on exactly what kind it was. Looked a little big for a Copperhead. There is a small pond right behind us so I was thinking possibly a water moccasin? I don't know, but I'm not a big fan of snakes hanging on or near our fence, or the jack wagon that won't cut his grass along our fence (causing my fence to warp and tear apart!)

Chicken Snake it is! Well he didn't survive the shotgun, but his friend was able to escape. They all look poisonous and freak me out, so I'm not going to get all close and check the head and body and what not! Well those dang chicken copper head water moccasins are crazy snakes jack!

Rat snakes and chicken snakes are one in the same. Rat snake is technically correct. Often found near chicken coops (not for the chickens) but for the rats that eat the chicken feed. Great climbers as you can see on the fence. If kept alive they will definitely keep the rodents in check.
