 What kind of rack do I need?

Been doing some research but really dont want to mess up. Figured some of yall here are probably in the same situation as I am.
I'm looking for a kayak rack to match my Honda CRV 2002. Theres no factory rack nor is it completely flat topped. It has slightly raised bars (but not separated from the ceiling) that are not possible to run a rope through because there's no gap.
So what would yall recommend I get/use to secure a kayak on top of my car? Willing to spend a bit to get something quality. Not too interested in tying it down with ropes going across my windshield, really looking for a kayak rack/holder
Appreciate any help

Lots of options. There's a useful rigging thread you might take a look at. I found a nice aftermarket roof rack and added some J cradles. Ready to roll.

Check out Yakima's or Thule's websites. Check your local kayak shop. They will all guide you to the best solution.

I'm in houston.
I'm thinking of checking out the sherpak smart bars from a previous thread. look like a pretty good deal. But i'll have to tie down in front, not the end of the world i suppose
