I've had my Honda for 12-14years. It's been rock solid without issues. I'm sure there are other good brands, but if I ever buy another one, it will likely be a honda.

I bought the Honda 3-in-1 self-propelled mower from Home Depot for $399 some weeks ago. It's very quiet, uses less gas than my old mower, and the double blade makes the yard look great. The variable speed self-propelled mechanism is the best I've seen compared those I've used on Sears, Toro, and John Deere mowers. My only knock is the left front wheel tends to rise off the ground when engaging the self-propel, even when easing into it.

So if you have a bumpy yard, yo'll have to apply upward pressure on the handle to keep the nose down. Otherwise, starts and runs like a top after 3 years.
LET’S GO BRANDON!!!

I bought my Honda mower new in 1995. I just took it to a service center for the very first time on Friday. Almost made it 20 years without a trip to the service center. Not that I have not had to weld the handle a couple of times, and replace the wheels twice, other than that, just a few oil changes, and air filters. Been the best mower I have ever had. Hope theres not much wrong with it. I think I know where the problem is, don't know what part it is, but its the first part where the fuel line come off the tank before the carb. Has some kind of a plunger. Maybe some kind of a fuel regulator. last few mows, I have had to manually work the plunger to get the fuel going. Now it only runs for a minute or so, then quits. Anyway, will be a Honda on my next mower...

I have always had front wheel drive self propelled but see now that is becoming more of a rarity. What is the advantage of rear wheel self propelled?

It's a little bit lighter when you lift the front wheels to turn because the weight is more toward the rear of the deck as opposed to the front. You may or may not be able to feel it much depending on how heavy your mower is in the first place. To the OP, I'll put in another plug for Honda. Mine's around 15 years old and this year is the only time I've ever had to pull on the starter more than once. And that was only for the first time after sitting through the winter.

Honda, had mine for over 10 years, besides normal maintenance, only had to replace the battery for the electric start a couple of years ago. Mine is heavy and the only time I ever have front wheel lift, is when the rear bagger gets full.

I have a Toro Recycler. Bought it new 22 years ago. I now need a new rear tire (the drive tire) but their about $30. Other than that and a few oil changes it's been great!
