I am getting stuck at work late. I will be out there later than planned around 530-6.

I went out last night in the rain for bit and not much was happening. Hopefully today will be better.

They weren't doing anything Ag? Where were you fishing?

I was out on Lewisville for a little while last night, they were tearing me up. I was fishing real shallow, off the end of this long point, fishing in the wind and rain, lots of buffalo tearing stuff up that was kicked up by waves and washed in by rain, some carp too. Maybe you were fishing too deep?

I only fished about two hours, had a string of bad luck...Lost one fish that struck while I was trying to put a pancho on lol, set the hook, let him run...tried to reel and the pancho was getting stuck in the reel! Lovely. He ended up getting my snagged and broke me off.

I then caught a buffalo and a carp, then lost another fish to a hook pull.

Also had something really strong SMASH my rooster tail, and strip off a lot of drag. Probably a big buff as I was working it real slow, and it nailed it right in the area I'd chummed. Looked wide and silver when it boiled, but I think it was too shallow for a hybrid, so I imagine a big buff or drum.

He got off too, oh well.

I was just happy to finally land a carp and buff at Lewisville.

I haven't decided if I'm going out tonight or not, but I may end up showing up!

Looks like I will not make it out tonight as I am still at the office. IF I do it will be late.

Well, I was out there around 5 hours. I never managed a single carp.

Starless got a couple though.

Bret! Lol! You make it sound like you blanked.

Bret caught 4 buffalo that I saw, and he told me he'd caught 2 before I arrived as well. But then they totally stopped biting for a while, and apparently I brought the luck!

I got there a few hours after he did, and I caught a fish almost immediately Lol.

Despite what Bret said, I'd say we hauled pretty well, four fish each in a matter of hours.

Bret got 4 buffalo, I got 2 buffalo and 2 commons.

Bret got a real nice 23 pound buffalo, and I got a not quite as nice 16.5 pound buffalo.

(At least I think that's what they weighed, having trouble with my scale, needs new battery. )

With any luck, pictures will be up tonight or tomorrow.

Also met Bret's friend Jeff, and Hardheadeater whos new to our forum and carp fishing. Great to meet you guys, sorry we hogged all the fish! It's not always like that, I promise! We'll get you both into some carp or buffs next time.

heh. I thought it was funny.

23 lb buff is a PB for me so it was very cool.

It was a good evening even without the fish.

Boat watching (which, for the record, on a warm friday evening can be real nice and bs-ing on the banks is a great way so spen an evening.

Glad to meet Hardheadeater too.

Yeah, that was really cool you were able to get the PB. 8 fish between two people in a couple of hours, with a 23lb and a 16lb, is a good evening of carpin' at GV!

23lbs buff...and you've fished for carp/buff for how long? You're gonna be spoiled, lol. I fished countless hours on Lewisville and some on Ray Roberts before I caught a 20+ buff, so consider yourself blessed.

8 fish in a couple hours, with 2 that size is a good outing for sure...good job guys.

Oh, another small thing, my TFF hat had arrived in the mail mere seconds before I left the house to head to GV.

I think it is on my head for the 23lb buff pic...... (I haven't been carrying my camera down to the shore with me, it's a fullsize DSLR, and not something I'm ready to get buff slime on).

I guess I should pick up a digital point and shoot just for this purpose... heading to ebay now.
