Has anyone caught one of the other carp such as the one w/out scales or with only one row of scales down the middle, in Texas. If so I would love to see some picks and what lake.
I used to catch them in the czech republic growing up but here I have never seen one.

Ask Scubadoc to show you the photographs of all the ones he has caught.

What that guy doesn't know about catching mirror carp isn't worth knowing.

Ain't that right Neil???

I always wanted to catch a mirror carp or a leather carp... I have always been fascinated by a fish that is half scales and half skin.

Chechmate, we call that a linear mirror here and I've seen them come from lake Austin and Cedar Creek Lake.

Mirror carp are pretty rare here and are a special fish when we catch one. When we do catch mirror carp, they come in one of three ways.

Linear like in Zach's pic above and one caught from Cedar Creek shown in this thread: http://www.texasfishingforum.com/.ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=52;t=000583#000000

Fully Scaled Mirror like this:

Or the most common mirror we catch looks like this with irregular scale patterns:

PB Common - 39lb 9oz
PB Smallmouth Buffalo - 50lb 2oz
PB Mirror - 18lb 4oz
PB White Amur - 25lb 12oz

Thanks for the pics. I had seen many posts about mirror carp but had never seen one. If I had caught one without these pics I may have thought something was wrong with the carp smile
