These umbrellas are the e z way to stay on the water longer and catch more fish. Also the protect from the sun's cancer causing rays. They stow and travel well. They raise high enough for me to stand and fish without any interferance from wires or straps used to hold other types of tops in place. The flush mount on the deck makes them a snap to put up and stow.

We've had home made versions of this for several years on the forum. Just requires some pvc tubing and a patio umbrella. Cheap and easy. I can send pics if anyone wants.

But, thanks for the reminder, temps are going to be in triple digits soon!

Might be carfull with one in a kayak. They do catch a lot of wind.

I also use them for shade for crappie fishing but also when im drifting for blues on days that are near dead calm they can act as a sail for me to keep the boat moving.

I think maybe a smaller size might work. The ones I use are 8 ft. diameter.
you may end up "parakayaking" if you try these.

Is this available commercially or have you adapted it for your clients benefit and comfort? If so, are plans available? I am 70 and live in Kentucky and fishing from July through August is almost unbearable for me other than early morning/late evening. I fish an 18.5 Deluxe Tracker w/90 Mercury and currently carry two large golf umbrellas for limited comfort. It would be greatly appreciated if you could either furnish me the plans/pics or name of retailer/company that mfgs them. Thanks...../MikeW)
