Headed down this coming weekend. I'm going to go to bass pro and get set up! Anyone familiar with that area that don't mind share some insight? I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to catch some trout but open to anything that will bite the hook. Thanks

You can try to ask Carey -- TarponFly. He knows that place like the palm of his hands.

Andy, I posted this on a couple of other threads. Here it is again for your benefit. I hope you find it useful:

You can catch a lot of trout at Cold Hole. That's where if you take the upper entrance to the park, and just as you get to the main dam you plunge down the road to the right, after half a mile you come to a bridge over the river where there's obvious parking. Cold Hole's to the left and Spillway Creek to the right. At Cold Hole, though, just the other side of the wooden walkbridge there, you have to go barbless and artificial. It's basically a catch and release area downstream for the next mile till you get to the next road bridge. Then it's a "blue zone" or bait and keeping fish allowed area again. The other side of that bridge seems like a good area to bait fish as also continuing downstream. You get to that spot by continuing on the road past Cold Hole till you come to the next bridge. IOW, half of Cold Hole is bait fishing, half, basically fly-fishing, then fly fishing for the next half mile down. Might be a good place to start.

Upstream from Cold Hole is "Spillway Creek." Bait and fly-fishing. It's really fun to fish except for that it tends to get "fished out" between the 3 week stockings.
--------------------

But I should have added this:
Okay, you want the second Park turnoff coming from Broken Bow. Then you drive about 3 miles to the Spillway (smaller dam). That's where Spillway Creek begins. As soon as you get to the Spillway, before you cross, a road goes down to the right. That takes you to the pool at the base of the Spillway and the head of Spillway Creek. You can fish there.

But, if you cross the Spillway and park in the trailhead lot on the right, you can walk down the trail (which I think is what they call Cardiac Hill). There, you're about 1/4 mile downstream and there's several really nice pools to fish. I always have some luck there. It doesn't seem to get too fished out.

Then when you've had your fun there, continue toward the Park. As soon as you get to the main dam, take the road that plunges down to the right. That takes you to Cold Hole (on left) and Spillway Creek (on right) at the first bridge, and Evening Hole (on left) at the second bridge. I like to park at Cold Hole and walk downstream to the Bluffs or at Evening Hole and walk upstream to the upper Evening Hole, fish there a while, then move on to the Bluffs. The Bluffs will be obvious when you get to them. This is the Red Zone, catch and release only, barbless hooks, etc. If you want to keep them fish Spillway Creek or the upper end of the Cold Hole (There's a sign).

Good fishing!

Spillway was on fire Monday, good drifts were more important than fly selection. We even got into a few wild fish.

Pack an extra can of patience. I heard it was CROWDED last Saturday. Lines were forming at each hole. smile

If you've never been and/or never fly fished I highly recommend a guide.
Otherwise you will be totally frustrated and probably won't ever attempt to fly fish again. 2cents

There's quite a few small brown trout, about 7", especially in Spillway Creek in the medium-fast runs.
