My dad has been camping at the state park for a couple days and has not been having much luck. He has a boat. I told him that I would post and see what I could do for help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

i went in the middle of the day last week to the rigjt of the boat ramp about half way down before it starts to curve around to the beach area. we caught 2 nice cats and a striper and 1 turtle. my wife missed a few. we caught them off the bottom and with shrimp. im willing to wager that the fish are there but that we got there after they stopped biting. i bet you can clean up on some striper there easy by throwing some lures there. i dont have a boat so i wouldbalso wager there are some better spots too. however, hit that spot early morning. i did try danny king punch bait with a float and off the bottom but had no luck. it is a good spot to bank fish

Rocks at the dam, channel cat should be there spawning..

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Interesting... I have never heard of drifting with punch bait.

I wonder if he means use the trolling motor and move slowly along the dam/rocks using punch bait and slip corks. I've done that a lot with great success.

They are on the dam right now. Caught fish on worms and stubbys cheese bait Sunday about 3' under a cork

Yes, sorry I wasn't more specific. Trolling motor out and fishing either stationary or working very slowly along the dam. The cats move along that area and I personally like to cover a little more territory than just sitting with baited hooks. Thanks Scott for clarifying.
