When I was a kid & the family would go up to visit the grandparents on Lk of the Ozarks my GrandDad would bait the bank next to the retaining wall with corn every morning.
It brought in some monster carp, cats & an occassional buffalo. We had a blast as kids catching some carp, largest around 13lbs. Good memories & I've not carp fished since then.
I've been toying with the idea of baiting an area at the local pond every morning with corn. It's about 15 acres & this spring I saw some really nice sized carp swimming the shallows in groups.
Would this be considered tabbo or encouraged? Just curious of your opinions.

Baiting (or chumming) is a standard technique for catching carp. Nothing wrong with it.

Looking forward to some monsters.

Take a look at Starless Dragon's advice for beginning carpers:

We've had lots of fun recently using sweetcorn on size-6 circle hooks (not size 6/0, though) rigged with a slip-sinker rig or Carolina rig.

Absolutely encouraged lol. We all chum for carp. Carp fishing is partly about bringing the fish to you, rather then chasing them down the way you do in bass fishing.
Finding good fish holding structure is very important, but so is chumming, baiting, and keeping the fish there, and feeding.
Like Bret said, check out that article I posted near the top of the carp forum.
So yes, bait it up, catch some carp, and post some pictures!
Good luck.

Size 6????? I was using size 2 Kahle, Circle and Octopus! Might be why I missed all of those fish at Texoma Saturday evening. Hooks were too big! Thanks for that little tidbit.
What do you need the 40 gallon trash can for? You don't have to ferment the corn like you do with catfish. Just open a can and throw it in the water. If you are using field corn (cheaper) then you might want to soak it first but probably not. It would soak in the pond. It depends what you are primarily after, catfish (ferment) or carp (don't).
I use range cubes to chum for Channel Catfish, Carp and Crappie. (Range cubes attract minnows, including carp, so you get all kinds of fish in the area chasing the minnows.) You can get a 50 pound bag at any feed store for around 7 bucks. That would last you a long time.
