Get some round steak, pound it out with a tenderizer hammer, cut into strips, flour it, and fry in shallow oil just like chicken fried steak.

Wow. Sorry I didn't see this.
Steak fingers are just chicken fried steak strips. Tenderize the heck out of some thin sliced round steak, cut into strips, then do a chicken fried steak breading.
You're going to want a thicker breading than I normally do on my chicken fried steak, so you'd just pat dry and douse in seasoned flour (flour, pepper, salt, garlic and onion powder) then in a simple batter of that same flour mixed with a little milk to make it runny.
I don't have a real recipe off the top of my head. Its very simple.
