As far as I know the baitfish we buy around here are golden shiners and fathead minnows which are native to texas waters

Just solve it all together and use strictly jigs. If they are not biting on jigs, you are in the wrong spot. If they are there, and not biting, you are using the wrong color. Just my

Just my Well said! +1 I don't get it. Barry says several reason why and then he says the reason being but I never hear the reason.....

I think what he is trying to say, is not to dump minnows or shad or other bait that are not native to the particular fishery . Many minnows are grown out of state, or in different areas of the state. They could carry different diseases or bacteria from one location to another, or may be aggressive towards local baitfish. Kind of like ants., Dump tghe ants from one pile into another pile and its a war. Yet they are all ants. I have a friend who swears by (lake minnows to fish with) he seines them to fish for white bass. I get that. but what I dont get is what happens when one of the non native baitfish gets off a hook, and swims off. its now in the lake and free to roam. It just doesnt seem logical to think some baitfish will not get off the hook and swim away.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Florida Strain Largemouths are not native to Texas. Hybrids are not natives. Smallmouths, walleye and rainbow trout are not natives either. Some selective reasoning going on at the federal level? It's okay for government to do it but not for individuals is the repetitive theme. Good grief. Is there something to be done about invasive regulation? When a fella can't go to the bait shop and get some minnows to dunk without an environmental impact study and hazmat disposal program implemented there's something very wrong going on.
