Hello all -

I'm new to fishing in Texas and fishing from a kayak but have heard good things about Eagle Mountain Lake. Anyone have any recommendations on where to put in and places to fish? I will be fishing for cats or bass/crappies.

Maybe harbor one off boat club you have a big area to fish. Been doing good on bluegill square bills early

Thanks for the tip! I'm planning to go out early Saturday morning to hopefully beat the crowd.

Most people are saying the south side of the lake is best so I will probably stick to that side.

West of Twin Points ramp, where they are pumping in water is a good place to start, I saw a couple yaks catching cats there this past weekend on minnows and punch bait, go past Twin to the private ramp, walk out the levee and you will see where the water is being pumped in. Sand bass in there as well. To the east of Twin are tall rock bluffs that will hold some cats as well, but you need to fish there early as the waves will wash you ashore once the party starts out there, gets pretty rough.

I am not making any decisions until the bourbon kicks in!

yep I agree with ol' man I live close by and fish that area quite a bit. Lots of dock areas in that cove...good for crappie. You can also put in at twin points and work your way around to dam pretty easy. lots of largemouth spots on the way to dam. You can usually troll dam area also and get a few.

Thanks for the tips! I will probably start there...

Any catfish places to try on the south end of the lake? I've never caught one before so I went out and bought some "stink bait" as they call it and was planning to try that or maybe go buy some minnows. Any other suggestions?
