On Lake Lewisville the Monday of this week I happened to do some bank fishing. I would say I cast out a good 40-50 yards with live bait on my line, trying to aim for possibly a couple of hybrids. Sadly only small sized one's were being caught and it was mainly catch and release for these. The most surprising part of the day was a jet ski decided to visit me about 10-15 feet from shore and ran across 4 of my lines. These guys were going a pretty fast speed, obviously they were trying to show off something, I couldn't care less what it is. They were able to catch onto one of my lines and the best of my rods started to pull, it bent in a pretty unhealthy manner, looking like it was going to snap in half. My bank rod holder that was holding the pole has a pretty sturdy metal stake, and soon as my rod was not able to hold any more tension, it went to this holder. It got warped to a pretty decent angle. Thankfully, my line snapped and all they did was lose my leader and quite a bit of line from my reel rather than losing the whole rod. I'm pretty sure they did some damage to my rod. I was shocked. I had a couple of witnesses nearby, and one of them shouted an angry warning at them even though it was my issue. I only was able to yell, "Hey!" at them before they ran across my line. I was pretty panicked and was only able to watch my rods while they were running across my line. Afterwards, I was only able to see the color of the jet skis, and the color of the life jackets the two people on it were wearing. Some of the people around me were able to see their faces while they were driving across the shore. The man that shouted at them helped me out and reported this incident to the office of the park I was at. I had no idea about the local ranger's # so I had to call the Army Corps to transfer me to one. These guys were still buzzing around the lake and I reeled in all my line to avoid these crazy idiots. In the end, the ranger came to my spot, I pointed them out, then the jet ski that harassed me got together with one other ski and a party boat and drove off. They clearly saw the ranger sitting on the place they wanted to ruin somebody's day. The ranger had binocular's so I hope he had a good visual to spot these guys since they decided to flee to the other side of the lake. It was a Monday afternoon, when they had ginormous acres of lake to themselves and they decide to pull this stunt. I was going to call a warden if they did it to me a second time.

That's obnoxious. Last Sunday bank fishing at lake Grapevine, I had two sea doos come within 50 feet of my fishing area, and while they were not trying to be pests, they were going fast enough to cause very disruptive wakes that I'm sure spooked the fish in the No wake zone I was fishing in. Really irritated me.

Don't give them a 2nd chance, Confront them or call TPWD (800-792-4263, it's printed on the back of your fishing license)immediately with descriptions & Vessel #'s, "action shots" are excellent for tickets & convictions.

over the years I have had far too many interludes with asshat jetski
riders on LL,both in my boat & on the bank, & yes, it is their sole intention to harass bank anglers.
a few years ago there was a jetskier website that had some threads pointing
out how fun & great it is to harass bank anglers on LL, so much so that they actually registered & posted here to further harass.
intentional disrespect from little rich boys with no chance of parental disicpline.

Summer time is here and the the jet fleas will be out in force. The jet fleas are bad enough but those WAKE BOATS are another story!!!!!!!!

When a jet skiier was killed in a collision with another on Joe Pool Lake very recently, it surprised noone who frequents that lake.
In fact, we felt not if, but when there would be a serious accident because of the lack of sense these folks used while driving.

Ugh, good to keep in mind.

And yet, if you unload on them with an entire canister of paintballs on full auto, they'll look at you like you're rude! Come on, it can't hurt that bad, you've got that vest on and everything.

i wish they would outlaw those boats. I have yet to see a curtious wake boat, it usually seems like they, much like jetskis, try to harass and run off the fisherman because fisherman are "in their way". It is ridiculous and uncalled for. I find it fascinating that thy have the entire lake and try always end up 10 yards away from a fishing boat or two.

May be a dumb question, but are there any lakes in Texas devoted to fishing? (i.e., limits ski's and wake boats, etc.)?

Probably just smaller, and private one, I'd guess.

Had 2 jet skiers do it to me tonight while bank fishing. Next thing I know they ran outta gas in the middle of the lake and were swimming it back to shore

Go to Fork. Its so full of timber it'd be suicidal to play around out there. There's very little recreational traffic out there.

Next time use braid. Let them get that caught up in their intake. Just be ready to cut your line off though.

I hate jetskis and wakeboarders! They know us fisherman are fishing and they are always near by with no common courtesy. Very irritating. I fish early and leave by 11am.
