Has anyone tried it? I know they use them a lot up north. I'm sure they would be killer for catfish. I tried setting out a leech trap one time in a nasty pond that I was sure was full of them, but didn't catch a single one. Anyone have any experience?

I've put out crawdad traps, and caught very few. Thankfully, no leeches.

We used to catch them just scooping up moss or grass from the edges of the pond. Most were caught near debris in the water. They would stick to the logs too. One old timer used too use a small pvc pipe with beef liver in pantyhose. Shove it in the center of a 2' piece and drop on the edge of the grass in the pond. Pond looked clean and doesn't have to be mucky. I know they are good for bass. We put them on a fly rod and sight cast for bass. They cannot resist eating them.

Put you on some baggie shorts and lay in the water. They like getting up under the covers and attaching themselves to certain parts.

Awesome walleye bait. Some of our baitshops carry them. I've never used them for catfish. Here's a place where we have ordered from for a tournament when we couldn't get any leeches local. https://www.lolbait.com/index.html
