Diesel does not work on Hackberry stumps for some reason. I use vinegar, salt, and couple drops of dish soap on poison ivy. It takes a couple of apps.

I tried the vinegar thing and the propane burner and found that if I'm going to have to target individual weeds it's just as easy to hit them with a hoe or pull them. This year the battle is on with beggar's lice. No other way to get them other than pulling.

I gave up using Roundup on grass around any trees or shrubs that I like, just a little bit kills them.

Only if sprayed directly on the leaves

Roundup sprayed on the grass around a tree will go into the grass roots (systemic) and get to the nearby tree roots. Believe the marketing hype if you want. I have 6 dead trees that say otherwise. Maples seem to be the most susceptible. It killed 'em dead at the peak of growing season.

Not sure that 24D can be used on Buffalo grass lawns. Is the "Hort" in your name horticulture?

my back fence backs up to a giant over grown pasture. i need to go back there and spray. do y'all suggest jut using a ton of round up? i'd hate for it to drain into my yard with a heavy rain. i guess i could spray during a dry time and hope it doesn't rain for a week...

mower is out, the builders kind of treated it like an "outta sight outta mind" type area for pallets, brick, rock, left over sod, tree buckets. one day they'll build more homes back there and they'll clean it up, but the grass is the issue... maybe i'll just weed eat every month and spray a little round up here and there.

24D is horrible. At one time Canada outlawed it, not sure if it still is.

The only problem with that is Round Up has lost it's patent, therefor anyone can make it now, not just Monsanto

What else had you sprayed out of the tank? Reason I ask is we spray a tree farm every 1-2 months with Round Up- 3 oz to a gallon and have yet to kill a tree spraying 5' on either side. I've also sprayed American Elms, Chinaberry, Mulberry and most other trees on ROW and most times it will only kill the branch sprayed on

Just RoundUp, the only other tank is for organic stuff. I was spraying Bermuda grass. Even killed one of my dwarf holly bushes in a bed.

2 years ago, I used roundup on several big spots of crabgrass in the middle of my lawn (Bermuda). Now its just a big dirt patch. I've seeded it multiple times, but only the occasional dandelion grows there now. This was regular roundup, not the season-long stuff. I no longer buy into the "doesn't affect the soil" hype.

It's all good, believe what you may. We buy it in 30 gallon drums, spray one week and plant the next
