Been fishing small lakes mostly. (3000 acres or less) I fish LOP when I have the time to make the trip, but normally fish small lakes around here. Time to try a bigger one. Main reason I haven't tried is that all the bigger lakes have been so low. Tawakoni for example is one I want to learn but it's so low right now. With the recent rains it looks like Cedar Creek has come up to a safer level. Would just like some general info. Hazzards, best spot to launch. Looking for the safest and quickest spot to launch coming from Forney in on 175. Also I here the bass fishing is better on the lower end, so would I benefit taking the extra 20 minutes and launching from a ramp at the lower end or just launching up north and running south? Other than that I wouldn't mind knowing a good starting place. NOT looking for spots just a general area. Thanks!

Exit 274 to Seven Points. Look up the old Don's Port Marina (now Lone Star). You can launch for $5 there. When you head out of the marina make a right and go around the bend to the Spillway. That's a good place to start. Good luck!

Log Cabin is a good launch point also $5 fee with courtesy box. I go down to Eustace on 175, turn right at light in Eustace. Go about 7-8 miles and watch the sign for Log Cabin and take another right. Go 3 - 4 miles and watch for Log Cabin entrance. They have several. Use the entrance that is divided by the Log Cabin sign. Follow road to ramp. I'm on the water from Kaufman in about 35- 40 minutes

Watch for the Log Cabin Po Po's, they mean business on speed

Thanks Steve. Any major hazzards to watch out for. Stump filled areas, sandbars. To my knowledge the lake is pretty wide open. Is this true?

mostly wide open. just use common sense and give the points some room and watch gps for any upcoming humps of any kind.

If you launch at Log Cabin stay in the center of the bridge heading out. There is a lot of rip rap from the construction in close and several props and lower units were damaged recently. Heading out into the main lake there is a lot of tree stumps on the right shoreline that come out quite a way, so favor the left side of that part of the lake and you should be fine. Low water off of Pinnacle club too, so watch yourself there. Good luck!
