So I finally managed to make it out to Hubbard on Sunday for my first trip of the year. (Minus my last attempt where I didn't get off the ramp )

Got on the water around 7am, checked equipment and boat performance. Everything was great, and it was a beautiful morning to boot!

Hit a few spots, snagged what I think was a drum to keep me from skunking. Tried around I30 both sides of the island but couldn't really mark fish. Then I went to try a few other spots further South, and managed to find some birds about to start working.

Got into some good schooling action and landed about 15-20 total - I couldn't really manage to get them to bite as much as I thought they should. Turned out they were feeding on tiny ~3/4" baby shad or something. For once I was the first one on the fish! Pontoon and a Sea Pro came and joined me, I lasted about an hour, left 'em biting a little bit. Whoever was in the Sea Pro, glad you put those kids on some fish!

Kept about 10 of the bigger fish (12-14") for dinner and fried 'em up for family. Great first trip of the year!

Haven't been to Lavon yet Keith. I've seen some guys put in at that old Little Ridge ramp, but I'm not sure my Glastron would go in too well. Lady Lavon could sure use some water!

For now it's just tolerating the lake lice/rats @ Hubbard, as long as I am off the water by about 11 it's tolerable.

And no, there isn't an island. I keep thinking Dalrock peninsula is an island because I am channeling my desire for Lavon to have more water...

So now I know who to follow around when I'm out on Hubbard...

I do love to see kids catching though, it's the only thing better than catching yourself!
