I'm sorry to hear that. Sticking with a local store is the best way for sure. My first Yak I got in Austin and drove down (3hrs each way) after ordering on the phone and was fishing the next day.

can you cancel and find one local?

Man that stinks. Well as long as you learn a lesson from this it's not wasted time. Sure would be nice if there was someone locally close to you that would match the price.

I agree. If they've failed to meet any obligation (like ship date), I'd cancel and file a claim with your CC company if the refund isn't immediate..

Edit- I looked at their website and noticed two things. 1) they say that boat is in stock, and 2) they have a social media presence on FB, Twitter, etc. Make some angry noise on there, and you will either get your refund or your boat.

There has never been a real "ship by this date" that they have given me. Only a, it depends on how busy Jackson Kayaks are and how quick they can make my boat (Drop Shipping). However, they have sent me some ikayakfish.com T-Shirts every time I call to inquire about my purchase to keep me from canceling my order. I refuse to use FB, Twitter, and all the other websites the kids are using these days or else making public noise sounds like fun. Unfortunately myself and a few others were just laid off work today so I guess I have all the time in the world to wait around and then some for fishing. With no job, it would probably be best to cancel and put kayaking and fishing on the back burner but I am afraid at this point, by the time I get reimbursed and maybe reorder I would have gotten the dam original order. Plus, I already have a cart, BB Ace paddle, NRS Chinook and Zoya PFDs, new rod/reel, Rubber net and the hole 9 to just cancel it. bang

sorry to hear the bad luck. I was laid off several months after I bought my PA. At some point, after staying home for 9months, the only thing that kept my sanity was my kayak and a very supportive wife. Keep positive and get that resume out! If money allows you to, keep the kayak and think of this as an extended vacation for you to fish and take a break from life.

Called company last week and they promised it would be in my area for pick up by this last Friday. I never heard from the freight company that Friday or Saturday and today I called the company and they said that they paid extra to "rush" the kayak to my freight terminal. They then said they would call freight company and call me back in an hour. Never heard from them and still no kayak. Just needed to vent!

I have had A TON of success with this method. Nowadays, the customers have a voice. Post on their Facebook wall tactfully but assertively that they've displayed terrible communication/customer service/whatever the case may be and you may find them to be more responsive.

I did that to GoPro and within 5 minutes had a message offering me a solution to my problem, which was worth $400 and took 20 seconds.

Hang in there! If they are still answering the phone, that's a good sign! Glad you made the post as I'm sure everyone has learned something from the information that has been provided by you as well as others. cheers

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Depends on available stock, freight co., DEALER and manufacturer.
Fall-mid Winter some manufactures don't make but a few of their hottest sellers
& only in their best selling colors.
I made a personal decision to switch colors so I could get on the water quicker last purchase.
After Mariner verified stock from factory and lit a fire, I had my new yak in about a week.

Mariner kayaks worked with the manufacture & did everything for us. They also kept us updated on the status of my boat order.
Mountain Sports of Arlington and Mariner Sails of Dallas have always worked to get it for as fast as possible.
I Really like being able to put my hands
on It before I buy if I can and These are 2 of the reasons why i trade with with them when I can.
Both have online stores as well woot Many will agree they r real nice people.

I got a feeling the Grapevine Bass Pro shop Is about to upgrade their stock & perhaps their service too.
Some folks still care & wanna take care of business/customers.

I failed to mention that I called Jackson Kayak and they told me that 6 weeks was normal for their kayaks (except custom colors) to be shipped via freight to customers who order through a dealer and 7-8 weeks for a Big Rig with Rudder sense it is so popular right now. With that info I chose not to cancel order as it seemed on track. Apparently my beloved Big Tuna is at my nearest terminal locked up between whatever the heck is going on between company and them. Said it before but if you come to the conclusion that ordering online is your only route (no local dealer to support/build relations) then make sure you call and ask if they have your kayak/color/options physically in stock at their own warehouse for the fastest possible sale-shipping time.

If they missed the date that they promised when you ordered, you could call the customer service and tell them how inconvenience that they created to you and ask them to give you discount for this order.
I got into the same situation as you. I order a Malibu stealth 12 from West Marine since 4-23-2014. Their website says it should be here with in 2-3 wks but still not here yet. I called the customer service... they sent the local manager an email stating that they are giving me discount $100+ on this order, even though that I had not paid yet.
Hope it comes in next week.
Good luck.

Um ok^? Anyway, finally got my BT after more run around on the phone with the freight company. Although I paid extra for residential shipping I just went to freight yard to pick it up. It had been sitting there for over a week according to paper on it. I pulled up to the ramp as directed and noticed this fat guy seemed to have been using it as a break seat/rest spot in corner of open warehouse and the same guy got up and was about to try and scoop it up with a fork lift for loading. I kabashed that BS but they wouldn't let me move it. They then drug it down the asphalt ramp as I gringed and proceedes to jam it into the dropped tailgate before finding the open bed. I cut the plastic off and inspected as much as I could in the 110 degree sun before a semi truck pulled up and needed the ramp. It somehow all looked still intact as I realized some sort of thick grease on the plastic wrap transferred to my white camo shorts. I strapped her down and made it home. I called the paddle sports company and inquired about pickup/residential difference money return and agreed on double the amount in store credit. I ordered some camera mounts and was told they were out and would "Drop Ship" them to me. Here we go again! I may have missed Spring but its finally to YakFish!

Glad you finally got it. After all the BS the freight company had to get their shot in too.
