Hey y'all. New to the group. Been kayaking for the past 14yrs. Always carried a pole with me and that was the extent of my kayak fishing. I previously used a tarpon but after looking at a pic a buddy took I'm pretty sure I'm over the weight limit. I pulled out my Mainstream tandem stalker and put on a rod holder, build a crate rod holder. I know it's not a sit on top, but with the rear seat out and front slide to the middle I have tons of room, can easily get in and out of it while in the water, hold my weight and plenty of stuff.

Had a lil test run at a pond last week and noticed I needed some minor things. Also noticed a yeti is not a good choice for a cooler/rod holder. Thing pulled a vacuum and had to pull drain to open which let water in. I got a fish finder but haven't had time to figure out how I want to install it so that will be coming along at some point. Hope all goes well. Oh and don't laugh at my trail beaten kayak. Village creek did a number on it and trail riding with it gave it a good beating.

D, don't apologize for fishing in a sit-in kayak. I know several guys that have gone through multiple kayaks, only to find their fit in a sit-in. I own 2 good kayaks, and my first choice for any water that isn't moving fast is my Commander. I know a few other guys with Commanders, and they swear by them.

If you want to build a great crate at a reasonable cost, look at the Itso Cube from Target. I built one into a crate, and I built a top for it. I wouldn't trade it.

Well Holly lake was a bust but I had a blast. My dad wanted to give my kayak a try and after he paddled back he was hooked. I plan on getting him one for fathers dad. As far as the set up goes i def need am anchor trolley. being spuned around central area was annoying while pitching on some lily pads. Also the yeti must go and a create is a must. i will be doing what Bass Art suggested.
