A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

There is one tournament on Raybob this weekend that I'm aware of. My friend and his son are fishing in it. He said it was some church in Denton sponsoring it. Believe he said it was being hosted out of RayBob Marina. I fished that area the other day and a week ago and had success throwing a white Havoc Rocket Craw tipped in chartreuse with a 3/16ths pegged bullet weight, casting towards the banks and just slowly cranking it back. Wasn't getting many hits on other offerings, but something about that white/chartreuse craw was the ticket. Threw a white fluke but no hits on it. My friend said they had success on a little chartreuse colored craw (don't recall the make/model - think it was like that Gene Larew Salt craw kind of shape). I always throw a Blue Fleck purple worm regardless of where I fish (wasn't a purple worm the first plastic lure ever created!!) - and caught a real nice one just off the bank in one of those coves behind the marina - but caught more and had more strikes on that white rocket craw. Those coves are kind of rocky - not much if any timber - some grass pockets - so maybe why a craw shape was working. Tempted to go back there Saturday morning, but if that tournament is going to go from there I may pass. For years I've had fantastic drive to spots on Raybob but the dang low water levels, housing developments and closed off access points have knocked a lot of those out.

It's a nice getaway out there. Back when I could play golf I would take the boat and some clubs there when I got out of school. Over at UTTyler.

I have been kayak fishing for years but only down in the Galveston halls bayou area. First time I have rigged out the kayak so I'm excited to try it out. Just loaded up the truck an will head out tonight. Hope it goes well on the first real trip.

I signed up today for privatewaterfishing.com and made my first reservation for this weekend. I'm fishing a private lake of about 40 acres south of DFW that I may have to myself or maybe one other person. I'm excited to finally be able to join. Seems things kept coming up and getting in the way of my fishing all spring.

J cradles arrived today. Fixing up my rack tomorrow and taking my wife our for her first paddle on Ray Bob Saturday evening. If it goes well we may hit the dam for Sandies on Sunday morning. If that goes well it's officially fish taco season.

Tight lines all.
