It's a fish. Micropterus punctulatus. When it grows up it'll be quite tasty grin

You can say that... Broken lateral line, series of stripes on belly, jaw does not extend beyond back of eye when mouth closed.

Mr. Burton, that row of dark splotches down the side of a bass is not the lateral line. The lateral line is a series of pores down the upper sides of a bass, well above those dark splotches. It extends from the bass' jaw to its tail. These pores have tiny nerves connected to them that can sense the slightest change in water displacement. The lateral line is what a bass uses to detect vibration, motion, etc. underwater. One of their best tools for finding prey.

I know the "Lateral Line" is not the stripe, I was going off of memory and trying to delineate between the spotted "Stripes". The official term on TPWD Identification Guide is "lateral stripe". Please Excuse my inaccuracy, I am humbled by your greatness. I shadow! barf cool
