The lateral line is a series of pores down the upper sides of a bass, well above those dark splotches. It extends from the bass' jaw to its tail. These pores have tiny nerves connected to them that can sense the slightest change in water displacement. The lateral line is what a bass uses to detect vibration, motion, etc. underwater. One of their best tools for finding prey. Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.
