I am not new to fishing but I have never really preferred it. Lately I have become more interested. I have a 7 year old boy that loves it so . . . I love to fish with him!! Around the Houston area, we have plenty of saltwater fishing but I am looking for good spots for bass. I know my son will enjoy bass fishing as it is more active! Does anyone know of a spot that we should try this weekend? Public/private . . . doesn't matter. Just want to take him fishing!

Try the Sheldon Reservoir. Might see a gator or two also.

The Bayous are full of Bass but now I would imagine that after this rain, they're full and running. Tom Bass park in Pearland (Beltway 8 @ 288) has some Bass too.

Is there a particular region of Houston you want to fish in. There are a lot of spots for bass including creeks and bayous.
The bayous are running wild right now. Brays bayou by work (TMC area) was up over the bike path this morning.

We are located on the east side of Houston . . . Baytown but I am willing to travel anywhere in the area. We will probably make a day out of it on Saturday.

I completely understand the itch to go, but with all of this rain (and more is expected this week) I personally wouldn't bother fishing. If you do go, carry extra low expectations. I am most familiar with the SW side of town so that is a good drive for you and there are plenty of spots (from what I have heard) on your part of town.

I have several ponds in the Kingwood area that you could take him to, and have caught fish up to 4 pounds out of some of them. PM me if interested and I will give you the info.

Would you guys recommend some areas on the west side of town? I'll work in Galleria area and be living in Katy near 10 in a week or so.
