I have a battery charger on my boat that I can charge my batteries with when I'm not using the boat. When I was attending college I never got to use the boat and kept the batteries charging for long periods of time, because I heard the charger would stop charging once the batteries were fully charged. I probably should have asked this before I left the batteries charging for a while, but thought I would have a chance to use my boat at some point.
The charger is a minn kota charger, if that helps. So is it okay to just leave the batteries plugged in and charging for periods of time?
Thanks

should be fine, I use a minn kota 315 3 bank on mine and it goes to trickle when fully charged.
get the model and look it up to see if it is digital or goes to trickle charge.

Ok as long as it is a Minn Kota and after charging goes to "Float Maintenance" stage .......and does not have a continuous constant current 'trickle' like can be be found in old auto style battery chargers. They may overcharge/boil a flooded lead acid battery or gas an AGM battery. MinnKota is shown below. Left on 24/7 is best for the battery:

I have an onboard charger and I used to leave my charger plugged in but not anymore. I only charge mine for around 12hrs. If you leave your charger I would bet that after awhile that your electrolite level in the batteries will be really low. some people might dissagree with me but im going by my own personal experience.

I looked it up and it is a Minn Kota 345 3 Bank Charger. I don't know a whole lot about batteries though, so I guess I can assume from the information above that my batteries should be alright?
