This arguement envolves me as much as it does you, somethingsmellsfishy. This is a public forum, and the topic under discussion is refering to a public lake.
I have the right to defend whomever I feel the need to. I am not intending to "stir things up", as I respect the general ideas of this forum, and intend to share my thaughts as I feel need be.
I appreciate your comments, but I could honestly care less what you think. This is a dead end debate that has been started here, and I appoligize for any comments I made that anyone took offense to. If I recall, I did not name anyone as an individual. If the shoe fits, wear it.

Fishlady - Please, don't worry about it at all.
As I said, I believe it's all about the fact that some anglers feel it's simply common courtesy among anglers to respect the wishes of someone who not only takes you to their honey hole, but teaches you exactly how to fish it.
If you read my post on page 1, then you might understand why some people get upset when large fish are taken from the Cliffs by people they took there, and taught to fish, and asked them to release.
They don't want that particular area of the lake to become a lesser fishery, and less viable for future Carp Ins where they can get more and more people into the sport.
IF FF had caught and given those two fish to you from anywhere else on the lake, I doubt anyone would have said anything but "Congratulations!"
It's all a matter of opinion, and people's feelings about that spot, and those they shared it with.
Plus, "Old grudges..." and all that. Anyway.
I'm very glad you're working to get people excited in more kinds of fish and in the local lakes. Very cool stuff.
I hope the aquarium displays help to get a lot more people interested in carp and buffalo.
How are the two donated buffalo doing so far?
If you think a 12 pound buff fights hard, wait till you get a 12 pound carp! Carp will take WAY more drag then buffalo!
I'd be more then happy to share the bank with you one of these days. Are you planning to do any fishing at GV any time this week? I may be out there Thursday, or I may be out there earlier.

Fishlady and Firefly did a great service to us all by donating those fish. Thank you both. I hope to be out that way to see the little guys soon.

The buffs are doing great. The big one looks a little roughed up because it flopped around in the net before we could get it into the tank. They are settled in, and they add a lot to the tank. Our store manager loves them. The actual founders of the company are coming tomorrow, and I'm thinking they're going to love them, too.
I'll probably be out there on Wed. morning. I havt to be in Hurst by 3, but I'm planning on fishing until then. My brother asked me if I would take him and his daughters out there on Thursday. They're 4 and 8, so I'm looking to get them into fishing. It's spring break for me, so I'm planning on fishing whenever I can. After this week, I'm up for fishing any time, other than when I'm in class or at work. I'm getting into this fishing stuff.

Cool, glad to hear they're doing well. I imagine the company founders are going to love them too.
I lived in MN for a while, and every time I went to the Cabelas that's a bit south of Minneapolis, I know one of the highlights for me was always the incredible aquarium display, and especially the huge fish in there.
Hopefully the tank at the Cabela's you work out will be just as impressive. If those buffs ever reach 60 pounds that would pretty sweet!
Where are you planning to fish on Wednesday? The Cliffs? I was telling Alan earlier that there are other spots on GV, among other places that will produce some big fish this time of year, especially as it starts getting warmer. But I could be talked into paying the cliffs a visit lol.
Last year by mid april I was fishing GV and catching carp and buffs several times a week, that's how I got my "Reputation" lol. Actually, it was probably the long winded stories lol.
Anyway this year I don't really have the same luxury but I am trying to fish more again while I'm able. So hopefully I'll get to hook up with you and catch some carp and buffs.
Just know that if you fish with me, and land a carp/buff...Your picture WILL end up on the forum lol.

That's alright...I know I can't stay faceless forever. I'm up for wherever on GV on Wed. My bro really wants to go to the Cliffs on Thurs, but I doubt they will stay all day. I'm pretty flexible as to location. I just want to fish.
At some point, I'd like to hit up Texoma for some bigmouth and black buffs. It'd be nice to have a good variety of buffs in the tanks. I still don't have a carp over 5 lbs.

I forgot my carp sack when I went fishing. You are right the stringer is not good for the fish but that was the next best thing.
Is there anything I can do with you and /or for you to help promote and grow our sport? I would love to help some more.I am willing to do anything. Please Call me at 817-454-9878 or E-mail me(You Know my e-mail adress). Thankyou again.
Fishlady....Thankyou again for Taking the buffs to Cabela's.I hope this simple act Helps our sport

Good job on the captures everyone. I look forward to seeing those fish up at Cabela's soon.
FF, I'm not being negative so please no one take it that way... I do want to offer a suggestion. Try to get a net that is knotless nylon type material. I still use my el cheapo Academy net from time to time and it works great, doesn't harm the fins.
Fishlady, we'll get you a 20+ lb carp eventually... I'm guessin around mid April sometime? We'll be in touch.

I think its great there in there! I think we should get a massive carp and stick in there something that will dwarf everything else in the tank!!
carp angling wouldn't be where it is today if it wasnt for 1 fish that was caught by really the father of carp fishing richard walker, he caught a fish from redmire pool in the UK in 1952 and named it clarissa it went on display at the regents zoo where it lived until 1971 the fish best they can tell was stocked in redmire pool in the early 1930's making it at least 50 years old and the rest as they say is history....

Good, good...This thread seems to be heading back in a positive direction! Very glad to see that, as I really don't want to have to lock it down. So, let's try it keep this positive direction!
FishLady - I probably won't actually decide where I will be till I'm ready to leave lol. Probably end up checking out some spots at GV. Some of my favorite spots from last spring are now above water, so I need to try and replicate those conditions.
I may check tomorrow or Wednesday. If I decide where I'll in time I will try and get you an email. Are you planning to start at the cliffs on Wednesday? If nothing else I could stop by and say Hello probably.
Thursday I can probably meet you at the Cliffs for some fishing though. Alan and I were talking about fishing then, and he was thinking about the Cliffs, so he may stop by as well, though that would be in the evening.
I have yet to catch any Black Or Bigmouth Buffalo, but I'd love too add them to my list.
As for carp, there are plenty of carp over 5 pounds on GV, averaging up to about 10-12 pounds. The biggest I've personally caught at GV was just over 16 lbs. But I know there are bigger ones in there.
FF - Hopefully the buffalo you donated will get more people interested in fishing for carp and buffalo!

I took a big plastic container wit the livewell pump from te chum buckets "cooler livewell" to austin last weekend. We were having so much fun we forgot to keep a fish and the container sat empty. If I get a 30+ in Austin could someone pick it up? Or do I need to bring it to Dallas?
