What type of boat carpet adhesive is best? Is there anything available in a spray can and if so do the have it at Home Depot?

Marine carpet glue for main portion and Weldwood contact cement for edges and lid edges.

just finished re-carpeting our boat and used weldwood contact cement everywhere. make sure you apply the contact cement to both the carpet backing and the surface your carpeting. Once it gets tacky and you set it in place...it's there to stay so make sure you have it positioned where you want it. we found that leaving a little extra on all the way around and trimming off the excess after you had the carpet down worked well. I also used a small carpet roller to press the carpet down and make sure the cement got into all the spaces in the backing.
get a bunch of cheap paint brushes (wal-mart)to apply the cement. don't use the foam brushes. they fall apart.
we also put pro-tech padding under the carpet from the consoles to the nose.

Contact cement is a good choice if you know what you are doing. For someone that has to ask what to use I would recommend standard outdoor carpet adhesive. I like the flammable formula. You just have to make sure of your ventillation. It is best to use it outside. I read once of a dude that was killed by the vapors when he used it in a garage. Advantage to the carpet adhesive is you can move the carpet around. With contact cement once the 2 sides meet you are not moving it.

Hey Basscat dad, what agheasive did you use under the padding? Nice job looks great. the website says to use special glue due to the paddding being air tight. Thanks and nice job!!
how long did it take you? what tid you use to prep/clean the surface?
